Also missing from this year's event was Black Rock City's long-running antipathy toward San Francisco's dotcommers, whose increasing numbers and pricey camp setups had been the source of scorn in recent years. Out: Theme camps on margin loans. In: Theme camp downsizing, proclaimed Piss Clear, the eventıs self-styled alternative newspaper.
But the final word on the conflict appeared above the city on Friday afternoon, when a skywriting plane tried vainly to spell out "sex.com." Desert winds and jeers from below reduced the stunt to self-parody, as the departing plane left only a quickly fading ".com" spreading across the desert sky

Actually it's not so much the instability of the internet as it is IT techs that don't know how to handle their gateways and routers. Most of these mofo's couldn't configure their way out of a wet paper bag with a ginsu.

Ah yes JR, that technical gap the size of the Grand Canyon between not guilty and innocent...
___________________________
I think that case was important in calling attention to the fact that the difference between guilt and innocence is a group of expensive attorneys, not evidence.
it was at that point that i realized that that is one of the truly largest flaws in the legal system.
it was something that i never gave much thought to until that point.
I think everyone can agree, if OJ was a poor black farmer from Dinglefuck, Georgia he would be in prison for murder right now.

people forget that OJ was in fact found to have killed his wife in a civil suit.
"not Guilty" does not mean a person did not commit the offense. It means that the accusing party did not prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
just because a pack of the best attorneys in the country were able to raise that doubt does not mean that people should be having the guy over in a clown suit, hosting a birthday party anytime soon.
it just occured to me... what happened to OJ's sworn oath to "track down the real killers"

Monk,
I think you should change your thinking. In all the years I traded stocks, I don't know if I ever caught many stocks at dead bottom. The question that I ask you is this, is it trading in the lowest part of it's trading range? Yes.
The second part of your analysis was will it hit 60...again, shit no! It never was worth sixty, it was driven to those heights by euphoric buying....but, is it worth 40? Damn right it is. B2B internet infracture has basically been the dead zone for the last two years...during this period CSCO has literally swallowed up every competitor it had...Airnet on the 802.11 spec, to name at least one. It is the only wireless that allows 128 bit security based on MAC addressing schemes. The rest of them (ie Lucent, Bluetooth or bluebutt)...is essentially like putty an RJ-45 jack in your parking lot and allows anyone to plug in and do what they want.
They virtually run the voice over IP market...unfortunately, none of it works worth a shit because of the instability of the internet so the client usually has to purchse a T1 and run it Like a VPN
My point is, will B2B business spending increase in the next couple of years, shit yes. Will Cisco dominate new purchases? shit yes! I don't try to buy anything at rock botton prices, I just want to own stocks that are good stocks and are at the lower end of thier trading ranges...simple enough. A guy named Ben Graham developed the mathematical models for this approach...he had one main protege, some bum named ...ah...er...Warren Buffet. letshunt

"Monk - thats the point we ALL decide ourselves. I would make a decision not to associate with OJ or Flynt.
Monk don't you make decisions like this all the time??"
Sure I do.... but I recognize this as a personal opinion and don't espouse it to be fact.
For example, if my neighbor was charged for child molesting (but not convicted), I would probably not leave my daughter in his care. HOWEVER, I wouldn't go out on the streets and start calling him a child molester because I do not have ALL of the EVIDENCE to make that statement.
For me to make a personal decision, I don't have to be TOTALLY convinced, I just have to have a suspicion. That is totally different from expressing my suspicions as reality to everybody who will listen.

Mike,
yeh I see you point, but mine is just as important, I guess it's a choice everyone has to make. If I was hiring someone and did a background check and it was clean, I would never know if they had of not been caught or whatever.. Would I let Oj or flynt babysite my 3 girls, of course not, i don't know them, they are not family, etc. but I will not burn Flynt at the stake either for something he only has been accused of by someone, that isn't fair justice at all.... sextoykingWe design your fantasy

"There is a difference between being technically found guilty by a jury, and the reality of BEING GUILTY/RESPONSIBLE for the crime."
And who decides the reality??? YOU?? After hearing one person speak about her side of the case?? At least with OJ we got to hear both sides and see EVIDENCE from both sides of the case.

Stuntal, Forest, Serge wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire.. I'm sure he appreciates the support you've given to his board though.
And Todd would you let OJ date a close relative of yours?? Would you let Flynt babysit any of your small family members??
Countless criminals get off every day - or are never caught and prosectuted. So technically they are "innocent until prove guilty" in a court of law. Would you hire these people to work for you?
There is a difference between being technically found guilty by a jury, and the reality of BEING GUILTY/RESPONSIBLE for the crime.
By your reasoning Evan and Xpays are NOT Spammers because a court of law has never found them liable/guilty of spamming. Yet when the e-mails pour in - well...
Sometimes I feel like I am talking to the walls...

Billy, the letter you wrote to Disney did the trick!
I wouldn't be too awfully anxioius to jump into Ericson any too quick...obviously, the chart shows a long and protracted decline in hsare price. this is exacerabated by what has been a relatively flat demand for wireless products...specifically cell and wireless phones...a lot of analysts have speculated that a certain amount of market saturation has occured...obviously, this causes an extremely flat P/E ratio...in other words, for the stockto rise they either have to increase at least price or earnings, well, in this competitive market neither is likely to happen.
On the other hand, if one of the wireless companies would develope some revolutionary concept for wireless the stock would rock, unfortunately, no such developements are in the making. Sure you can browse the net and get email, stock quotes etc over your wireless devices...but these development are hardly earthshaking. letshunt
Todd, you must live in a cloud over there in Seattle.
If I was a judge, or if I had some other posistion where I have to abide by the "innocent until proven guilty".
But as a private citizen, even one with a law degree - I have the right to state my opinion that OJ is a Murderer, and Flynt is a child molester.
As a private citizen, I have the right not to socialize with them, to show my disdane, and tell everyone I know what scumbags they are.
The innocent until proven guilty is a mere fiction which protects the rights of innocent people - it is a great system for Justice. However, it is NOT reality - and while the gov't cannot do anything about it, individuals can.
That is why OJ got sued in civil court for what in essence was murder - and was found liable...
Todd wake up from the fantasy land you live in. Maybe you could have Flynt babysit your children for you ( or nephew or neices whatever you have). Maybe you could let your sister, cousins date OJ.

Well, as a long time stockbroker, I have been a little surprised at the lack of chat about the HP/CPQ proposed merger. This will have a tremendous impact on the computer industry. HP needs compaqs technology and channel distribution network. Compaq totally domininates the non Web server market, too. Something in the area of 65% of all B2b servers are proliant. I have no idea why CPQ would be in the least bit interested in this deal, unless they are just that cash strapped. letshunt Im too pretty
