Success, failure, and staying on top

"That's why success is probably the biggest reason guys fail. You see it every year: Someone has a little bit of success, and it leads them down the wrong path. They think, 'Man, this is awesome,' and then forget what got them there -- working out, preparing physically and mentally. You fight and scratch to get up there, but once you're up there, it's just the beginning. It's tough to get there -- but it's even tougher to stay there."

Hehehe.. very true Serge.

When I started this thread I kinda was thinking about hopefully getting a debate ongoing about whether it is harder to get to the top or whether it's harder to stay on top.

Getting to the top = Doing everything right.

Not staying at the top = Doing a single thing wrong.

I think Dravyk may have ended the debate right here. On your way to the top, you get to make a few mistakes, learn from them, and start again. If you're on top and lose it all, you lose a part of yourself that most people can't get back. Some people can "bounce," but most can't.

Isn't it amazing how easy those "fucking with nickatilynx penalties" are to recognize?

"Fall down seven times, get up eight."
- Old Chinese proverb...that I happen to particularly appreciate. :)

lol no was just thinking that the goalposts invariably always move .. its not just your game you have to keep ahead of, its your competitors too .. that and being flexible enough to diversify when required within the marketplace.

He has tasted good and evil in your bedrooms and your bars,
And he's traded in tomorrow for today
Runnin' from his devils, Lord, and reachin' for the stars,
And losin' all he's loved along the way
But if this world keeps right on turnin' for the better or the worse,
And all he ever gets is older and around
From the rockin' of the cradle to the rollin' of the hearse,
The goin' up was worth the comin' down
