Rule number 1 should be dont take Trev, as he takes half eaten food out of our sons mouth and leaves it on the free food sample trays. He thinks it's hilarious :scratchin

Re: #1 rule when grocery shopping....

It is a truism.

The worse for me is passing by deli counters I buy tons of stuff. All of which has to be eaten in a day...

Re: #1 rule when grocery shopping....

I can go into supermarkets ..walking around going "nah .. don't fancy this or that" and come out with a pint of milk and no food in the house lol but a decent deli counter .. fresh chicken, stilton cheese with apricots, decent smoked ham, pepperoni, smoked dutch cheese .. yes please ..

Re: #1 rule when grocery shopping....

There are some food stores I have to stay out of. I will spend $200 in perishables and only eat $50 of it before everything spoils :(

Re: #1 rule when grocery shopping....

Hehehe.. are there any organizd shoppers here? When I go to do a full grocery shop I go up and down every aisle and don't have a list at all. I have an idea of all what i am going to get but I never go with a list.

Re: #1 rule when grocery shopping....

I always take a list because there are some things I have to have. But that list usually doubles by the time I get out of there.

That's so true!!! :okthumb: Yet I do it all the time...lol

Re: #1 rule when grocery shopping....

I never take a list and when I'm "big" shopping I like to go down every aisle. I prefer to go by myself and buy everyone their own special treat than have the family with me bugging the shit out of me.

My girlfriend congratulates me when I get away from the deli counter for under $50 ..

Re: #1 rule when grocery shopping....

me + a good deli counter = a lot of stuff that gets bought and often is forgotten about once it hits the fridge...

Oh, I'd be perpetually broke if I lived up where you do ... there's an awesome selection of ethnic foods in Chicago that I can't get here.

Nah.. I make my money go far when it comes to groceries. I always shop at WalMart or other discount place for my groceries and cleaning supplies. The exception being for things like steak, hamburger, pork chops, and chicken breatsts and the like. I always go to a regular grocery store for those.

Re: #1 rule when grocery shopping....

So none of you have ever had a loaf of french bread that is flown in everday and costs $100 ....

;-)))

oh in case you are wondering..it sure as fuck does not travel well. :(

I take the list my wife gives me instead of taking my wife. Also if an item is really discounted and I know I'll use it then I'll usually get it even if it's not on the list.

That deli counter is a pain in the ass ! My biggest grocery trip was when I moved into my 5000 sq foot house I had in 1999 - it has 1000 sq feet in cabinet space, I swear!

Spent $650 at Kroger's LOL !!! 2 full carts overflowing... Was alot of groceries!!!

Yesterday I spent $120 at the grocery store and it didn't even seem like I got crap :(

Hey PD, just noticed you are from 'corn fiels of IL' you close to Peoria by any chance?

Hahaha, I'd missed that. If people want free food they should go to a shelter, the store is for buying... plus it cracks me up when they eat it. :yowsa:

while we are on the subject.... i have a message for grocery stores

I dont have a discount card.... i did not ask for one... i am tired of this same fucking question every fucking time. you can track an entire inventory of a supermarket chain... why can't you remember my answer?

"You could have saved $0.42 on that purchase" - Really? and I could have knocked you out and pissed on your face in front of this large crowd. you have now been warned twice.

Paper or Plastic? are you serious? do me a favor... take the $1.32, give me my fucking bottle of juice and leave me alone. I did not come here to make a political statement... i came here under the mistaken impression that i could buy something quickly that i wanted and thought i could leave without being judged and going through a fucking inquisition.

and here is a suggestion.... instead of an "express lane" how about a "look motherfucker, i don't have the time or patience for all this shit lane" - in this lane, we will embrace the unique concept of not trying to bond and chit chat, while i buy tampax for my wife.

Ahhhh....would that it were only so!!! :okthumb:

I'd like to add another: don't fucking ignore me because I'm in a chair. Yack at my husband all you want, but don't fucking ignore me. It pisses me off and I've got the money, so if you expect this to be a completed transaction, manage to look down and say hello. (This one can be used by more people than you'd think.)

And on behalf of the elderly woman in line in front of me: don't call her "honey" and cutsie names just because her hair is white and she's leaning on a cane. Treat her with respect...like they do in countries that have a much better culture than this one.

I am the reason people should not own handguns.
