After 6 short months, I am back! We finally decided to get out of the city, and out of Quebec, so sold our house in Montreal and bought a new one out in the country in Ontario. I have barely worked in the past 6 months...other than on the house!

I basically gutted the house down to the studs and rebuilt the entire thing. It took a wee bit longer than I planned, but that was to be expected since I've been doing everything myself. It actually has been a nice relaxing break from the "on-line world". I basically have been on-line for about 30 minutes a day.

But, it's time to get back to work and get to all those things I put on hold. When you aren't actively working and promoting you really notice the new money drop off! Once again, it's time to do some building!

Welcome back! Interesting, I've been looking at a home with a friend myself as an investment down here in Florida. If my friend gets this one I will be busy fixing it up. Has a pool too!

Now get back to work! :yowsa:

I'd noticed you'd been rather scarce, glad to hear it wasn't for anything immoral, illegal or fattening.

Danny, congrats on the new house (and renewing it). There are plenty of nice places out on the Ontario side of the border, and you can still stay in touch with and commute to Montreal when you need to without too many issues.

I will say too that the last 12 months or so around here as been another 401 exodus, although anyone I know under 30 or so seems to be heading past Toronto and on further west. I sort of have similar plans... just VERY west! :)

Welcome back. Now go make some porn, dammit!

It must be the rightr time. I sold a dowtown townhouse and moved across the water onto a mountain where I spent most of my time anyway. Gutted and renoed the place so I know how you feel. Good luck moving to a unilingual province. I amsure you and carol will be very happy

We're still only an hour drive from the old neighbourhood. The two older kids are still living in Montreal and Carol didn't want to move too far away. Our youngest was starting high school, and we didn't want his education ruined as it was for the two older ones! We were talking about selling and moving for a few years now, and this past summer was the perfect time.

I needed to get away from sitting in front of the computer for a while, and playing "handyman" is kinda my hobby. So we gutted and rebuilt the place, making a much larger master bedroom with a larger en-suite bathroom. We also made another large bedroom with it's own en-suite for my father (who just moved in with us) as well as two other bedrooms and 2 more bathrooms. I put in all new oak hardwood on the floors as well as tiling the bathroom floors. I just finished renovating the basement and JUST moved in my new office (with a nice gas fireplace). All that is left is to gut the kitchen and rebuild it. Well, new landscaping in the Spring too.

If I have to sell the place, I'll never get the money I put into it back out. We did go a bit overboard with all high end materials, cabinetry and fixtures. But I'm not looking at flipping but staying here as a retirement home. It's a good home base for when I finally take off in my sailboat in 5 or 6 years.

Spring Hill, just north of Tampa. Nice homes round 50 to 100 G's a few adult workers own homes there, and county laws aren't as tuff.

Thanks for the info, but I really like it here in Orlando. Got good friends and all that stuff here. Hopefully I can get a place this year.

We used to own a home down in Punta Gorda, in Charlotte County, south of Tampa. We sold it in 2004 before the hurricane damaged it! I'm seeing similar homes in the area going for less than half of what I paid for it back in 1998. Good thing I sold when I did, I actually made money off it!
