Someone or "someones" have bought up a whole lot of these .co domains. Does anyone have and opinion on how useful or valuable they will become?

IMO, they have about the same value/importance as typo domains.

The only important one remains .com as that is the type in habit people have. For general links, nothing else really matters. The .co is as useful as .info and the rest.
