Blu Cigs Affiliate Program Records 150,000 Sales
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After launching in May 2009, more than 150,000 Blu Cigs electronic smoking device kits have been sold exclusively through the Blu Cigs affiliate program.
Blu Cigs’ Jason Healy told XBIZ that the affiliate program currently is attracting between 60 and 70 new affiliates per day.
“Especially during the two to three months,” Healy said. “The response has been great and product recognition continues to grow.”
He said he attributes the product’s successful to its universal appeal and the 30 million-plus U.S. smokers.
Affiliate.BluCigs.com is the online home of the Blu Cigs affiliate program, listing the program’s offerings as $15 pay-per-sale on Starter Kit sales and $2 on cartridge carton sales.
“Conversions are on the rise,” Healy said. “We’re getting more websites, more traffic.”
Affiliate sales tools include page peel ads and videos, among others, that are designed with a focus on lifestyle branding. Healy said that all the tools are tested.
“This allows our affiliates to focus on getting traffic and sales rather than worrying about the effectiveness of the ads,” he said.
Healy said that while Blu Cigs is intended for all audiences, it welcomes adult traffic, offering them an opportunity for mainstream success. Moreover, he said conversions originating from adult sites are “not just good, but better” than mainstream.
Last year Blu Cigs came on the scene backed by AEBN as a product that uses flavored water vapor to give the illusion of smoking real cigarette. The e-cigarettes contain an atomizer that delivers water vapor, with flavor and the desired level of nicotine, should the user want it, through a replaceable cartridge.
The starter kit, which retails for $59.95 at BluCigs.com, contains two batteries, a charger, and 25 flavor cartridges. Flavors include vanilla, coffee, menthol and classic tobacco.

I'm all for free speech, and free, open markets.
But I can't see the connection here?
Unless, perhaps, it's the "supplier" in China?
Imitation cigarettes, and porn........just don't get it I guess.
('course, I'm not a smoker....maybe that has something to do with it?)

I think that's probably it - you're not a smoker. There's something to be said for sin grouping though.

When I think of these things, I think of the "hands" guy on on the lawyer show with Denny Crane, (Boston Legal.)
He used a fake cigarette as a prop for confidence.

Are these any good? I smoke a pack of menthols a day and would not mind something different. I have heard mixed stories.

I know several people that have used them to at least cut back.
For a replacement or stopping... Im not sure Id make that claim.

Oh give 'em a try. I'd think it would be worth the gamble for whatever it costs. (Not sure how much AEBN's are, I know the prices from the the suppliers in China, but I'm sure it's many multiples of that, here.)
But whatever the price, it's got to be better than killing yourself slowly, if you make the change?
I remember when my Dad quit....he went cold turkey, after 40 years of smoking up to 2 packs of Viceroys a day. I'm not so sure I could quit cold turkey like that if I were a smoker. But, then, I've never been the man my father is.

I was a pack and a half a day smoker.
When I was using Blu, I went to about 2 a day.
It helped give me the push to know I could quit, and I have since.

I was up to almost 3 packs a day, and I've been smoking for 38 years. On January 5th of this year, I ran out of cigarettes and just said "enough is enough". I haven't had a cigarette since then. I used the patch for 4 weeks, and that was it for stop-smoking aids.
Of course, we won't talk about the 20 other times that I tried to quit smoking that failed miserably! ;)

I liked them...it was a great idea with massively poor execution. I had the connection to get these into BIG supermarkets in massive quantities but the delivery mechanism just wasn't there and now the window of opportunity has passed Im afraid...Too many people offering them for free etc now.

ten years for me...I suppose I could still fail miserably. LOL
Cigarettes are poison. They kill people. I know Liz and really like her. But I have to say that I could never sell anything that I believe kills folks. The sooner cigarettes or their surrogates disappear, the better off we will all be. There is not one good argument that can be made for inhaling nicotine or selling it.
Having said that, I do enjoy the odd Cohiba.

I would go with the non poisonous option. Not a problem. I just don't like the idea of inducing cancer for profit. Call me old fashioned.

Rhetty - what is the part you think is deadly? Nicotine?
(Not to attack, at all - genuine curiosity, here, since it's been my understanding that the nicotine isn't the problem, so much as the tar + smoke + particulate, none of which is a factor in something like Blu)

I suppose you are right. Nicotine itself does not cause lung cancer, but it is a poison and can kill. But those who chew tobacco have elevated cancer rates as well with no smoke involved. However, I still have a problem with laymen selling pharma type products that have no test results, perhaps no tests at all. You can correct me if Blu has a lab that they have tested their product out for a few years. I understand they are made in China. That alone scares me. The jury is still out on what the effects are of pure nicotine delivered on a daily basis. I have no idea.
I would be pleased to hear your understanding of the benefits of these things, Liz.

Liz gave me a sample and I like them, better even than real cigs. smoother flavor way less harsh and satisfys my desire to smoke after a meal which is about the only time I do so.

I understand your concerns. Unfortunately, I haven't got answers. Tobacco, smoked or no, has a number of other chemicals that it diffuses beyond nicotine, though, any number of which may be considered carcinogens. Then again, alcohol is a carcinogen. These days, the air itself is a toxin. The jury is still out on whether I will die from using Tupperware to warm up my lunch, too.
I don't mean to be glib, it's merely that my understanding of the concerns centered on smoking are a direct result of the by-products of the tobacco itself, not the nicotine. I don't know of any studies that have shown that use of nicotine delivery - be it gum, patch, or inhaler (which category Blu would fall into)- has demonstrated that nicotine, in and of itself is hazardous in relatively small doses.
If I drank liquid nicotine in bottles? Yeh, probably an issue. ;)

So what due diligence has been done by the distributors of this product to offer assurances that it is pure nicotine or is not harmful either now, or down the road? That is the root of my concern.
I know the FDA is a fuck up from the get go. They allow Glucose/Fructose corn syrup in packaged foods that is 99 per cent probably the reason for the huge diabetes epidemic we are in the middle of and a whole lot of other crap. However, they do test a lot of stuff to keep producers sort of kind of honest. Has this product been through any kind of FDA approval process?
Again, it is just a concern I have over any kind of unproven anything that goes on or in to our bodies.
Yeah I drink. Yes I drive a car. I am not a major health nazi. Just concerned that the internet has opened a whole industry of world wide snake oil.
