Hi,

I just can not figure out how the hell CCBill works. What I have currently figured out seems counter-intuitive, and there is no way I will continue if there is no alternative.

1. Firstly, I have signed up as an affiliate, and not a program provider.
2. The only way I have found programs to promoted is via search engines, and then once I find one I have to enter my ccBill details in order to continue (id,login and password).

Now why on earth would I provide my entire login information to some site that I have no idea if its credible or not? Surely this is not the normal way to find program providers?

My frustration continues. Does anyone understand where I am coming from, or am I explaining it incorrectly?

I am using LeggyCash as an example here as I know it belongs to one of the posters here. I am in no way suggesting LeggyCash would try take my account details, it is infact the opposite as I trust them more than a ccbill program I would have found using the SE's.

================================================== ===

ME: hi

Support: Thanks for contacting Client Support. How can I help?

ME: I would like to know how I can find CCBill programs that are related to my website.

Support: I'm not sure if I understand what you mean. We offer a payment gateway for websites so billing transactions can happen.

ME: It seems strange that I need to provide my account details (id,username and password) to a potential program in order to be linked to them, surely you have a list of programs somewhere?

Support: Are you referring to the CCBIll admin?

ME: This is affiliateadmin.ccbill.com right

Support: I provide support to owners, webmasters and affiliates. If you're asking about affiliateadmin.ccbill.com, then I can help you.

ME: yes I am

ME: I am looking to promote ccbill programs on my website

ME: but need to find the programs first, how can I do that?

Support: Most websites offer affiliate programs you can sign up to. Once you're signed up, you can manage the programs within affiliateadmin.ccbill.com.

Support: When logged in, you can view how many clicks you have on each program

Support: As well as how much money you are making on each one

ME: ok, lets take this adult site as an example - http://www.leggycash.com/

ME: so you are telling me I need to give them my CCBill account details (including password) before I can join

Support: If you already have an existing CCBill account, you input that where it's asking for ID, username and password

Support: that is so you can link your accounts together and manage them under one Affiliate ID

ME: wow, this must be a scammers delight

ME: how on earth would I know if I am dealing with a legitimate site

ME: how would I know that http://www.leggycash.com/ is legitimate and I can trust them with my account details. This seems so stupid

Support: If they have a CCBill signup page, then the website in question has already gone through our review department and confirmed to be a legit business.

ME: give me 10 minutes and ill knock up a fake page that will scrape the account details of anyone that enters thier details. How do you avoid that

Support: the signup page has our CCBill URL. A fake page won't have our URL

ME: I dont see your url on http://www.leggycash.com/ does that mean its a fake site

ME: once I click the retreve data I go to ccbill, but at that stage a scammer would already have your details

ME: I just dont see how this could ever be safe

Support: Minnie and Mary is a website under the Leggycash network.

Support: http://www.minnieandmary.com/ccbill/index.htm

Support: If you click on "pay by credit card", it will take you to a CCBill URL

ME: that is to signup as a customer right? I want to promote thier site, how do I link to them?

Support: When you're signed up under LeggyCash's affiliate program, they'll provide you with a join URL which will credit you with a sale, if someone uses that join URL to sign up.

ME: ok, nevermind, we are going in circles here and you are not addressing my concerns. I think I will give ccBill a skip. Your system just does not seem safe.

ME: bye

Hi Dingle,

Sorry to hear you're having problems with CCBill. They are actualy quite easy to work with and their customer support is spectacular. You should cut them some slack as clearly this support person did not understand what you were asking him.

I see what you mean though. I personally have never trusted any sites that ask me to log-in with my ccbill u/p. I'm sure its safe, but who knows? I got into the habbit long ago of going right to http://www.ccbill.com and logging in from there.

Good luck with CCBill!

dingle, you sound mostly like you have confused yourself into a tizzy. I can picture a support person pretty much losing your train of thought about every other question, because you have sort of come to the table with preconceived notions that aren't exactly true.

Giving CCbill a miss is like giving 30 or 40% of the business a miss. in tough times, that would be your loss.

I actually get what he is saying there

lets say Im a shady character i could presumeably skim his ccbill details and use them to login to his affiliate account and change the payment address or something.

It has always bugged me that ccbill has NO master list of sites that they bill for or sites that are affiliates you would think they would help us make sales.

This is 100% representation of what I am trying to say, and just cant understand why ccbill would run their business with such a large loophole.

I have not given up 100% yet. I have logged in via the address above, but still after doing that how do I add an affiliate program to promote? This is where I am stuck.

Found this site - http://www.100sponsors.com/sponsors.html that lists a bunch of ccbill sites. This is what I will have to rely on, and to be honest it scares the crap out of me.

Thanks, that's an excellent list. I have calmed down a bit, and have started to sift through some of the programs to see which one suits my needs.

Signbucks daily claims to list all active ccbill sites and has them broken out by niche.

http://www.signbucksdaily.com/sites/list/option/35/

Dont know anything about them other then I have seen folks say their list is accurate.

good luck
