Just got the email about ClipClinic closing. That's too bad, just after I made my first check LOL. What's really sad is my conversions on affiliate traffic to the site was actually very good conversion ratios. I wish I could have sent more numbers ...

After ClipClinic was down for over 2 weeks, I knew it was never coming back. My bullshit meter was pegged when they told me it was "just a database" problem. What pisses me off is all the free traffic they get now for their other sites.

I dont think you have to worry to much about the "free traffic"

I do well with downloadable clip sites. But ClipClinic.com was mismanaged from the start. Why are Clips4Sale (independent) and Clips.com (backed by Hotmovies) so successful, but ClipClinic.com with AEBN's backing such a flop? There may be multiple reasons but I would like to mention one possibility. I made a very long and detailed post when the store first launched about how poorly designed and awkward the add a clip interface was. It took about two dozen steps & a dozen screens screens to add one damn video clip. Total insanity in the workflow made it impossible to manage your store.

jim if you think the add a clip interface was a nightmare you should have tried to buy one....

Thats what killed it...HORRIBLE design.

I agree with both Jim and Mike ... bad design on both sides. I always had to force myself to make uploads. That said, I got involved with the Clinic because AEBN was the developer and I expected it to do a lot better. A few years ago I thought there would be a lot more of these type sites in the market and it would be the new affiliate model. I've always looked at c4s as a "40% affiliate" partner.

After 5 years of trying almost every clips place, only c4s and clips.com consistently make me money.

Agreed, C4S & Clips.com are the leaders. There is no reason that ClipClinic.com couldn't also do well with a re-vamping of their interface. AEBN is a big player in Pay-Per-Minute VOD so there is no reason they couldn't make this work. Just get their in house or contracted programmer(s) to study the best elements of C4S and Clips.com interfaces and re-design them from scratch. People really like the downloadable clips model. I created my own downloadable clips store on JimGunn.com using free software (Wordpress) as my CMS and a script with an inexpensive monthly charge to handle the token based downlodable clips capabilities.

I love it. That is truly a KISS principle approach. :>))

And at 4.9% from Zombaio, I am hardly paying any processing costs! With no recurring billing, there is little risk to use one of the alternative billers from CCBill or Epoch and keep over 95% of my money. It's wonderful when I get an order from a gentlemen from Finland who orders $100 of tokens to download scenes that I have been milking extra revenue out of already for years. I have a wire for over $513 on the way right now.

I just opened my own clips4sale store. Got 4 sales in just two days so I'm looking forward to uploading a lot of videos. Looking into clips.com too but you have to snail mail them docs?

Of course it helps that what me and my mistress make is a very narrow niche. I don't think I'd bother if it was "normal" porn (whatever that is,,,)

Congrats on the sales Bill and welcome to the clips game! Keep pumping out ( no pun intended ) the fresh scenes and uploading ...
