I have notice a decline in recurring billings. My new VOD site is producing an average of three months recurring. Any thoughts on this as a future business model?

One of the things I track in my monthly stats for my CCBill sales, which is the lions share of my income, is the percentage of non-recurring sales. That number has been steadily increasing over the last couple of years.

It's really hard to say without knowing the entire picture. Has your traffic or quality of traffic gone down? Have one or more of your affiliates changed anything in the way they are marketing? Have you? Is any of your content now appearing on a tube somewhere?

It could be anything..

There are always variables and people get paid huge amounts for interpreting metrics. This is just a gut instinct and anecdotal observation.

Since my brother kicks my ass if I ever try to use my instinctual hunches and gut feeling observations to describe our marketing efforts, I have to go to the numbers. Our metrics show strong growth in our recurring which we attribute to recent site enhancements - more updates of our vintage material and improvements to our community features.

Our traffic is the usual mix of organics, paid se, affiliates, etc., and of course our dreaded tube site uploads... which of course supposedly don't convert into quality retensions... lol.

I think people will pay for quality and uniqueness. I know rhetorical has that in his sites so maybe some changes like you mentioned might do the trick for him.
