She can't sing. She has a bad throat, and she is waiting for health insurance so she can get a doctor to check her out and give her a prescription.

The problem is how to pay for it.
One way or another you pay. Better to pay the people that you elected and get everyone looked after, than to pay even more to greedy insurance companies. It is still money out of your pocket. It seems to work very well in Canada and we certainly have a great standard of living....without the worry of going broke when we get sick or hurt. Same in Europe. The French have an amazing system and they have a great standard of living. The only problem I see with this bill, is it doesn't go far enough. I would put the insurers right out of business. They should not be rewarded for their bad behaviour.

Keep in mind that we also have Private Insurers here in Canada. Our health care system offers basic health which is really just fine. The private Insurance adds extra things to your health care like quick and free (after a typical yearly deductible) testing, prescription drugs, dental, eyewear, etc.

I've always found it ridiculous that the US is the only first world nation without health care for all, and has the lowest life expectancy. Even in Canada, we are way behind most countries in Europe. But at least we don't have to worry about losing our homes if we get sick.

The US really does have the best in health care, but it's only available for those few that can afford it. Wealthy Canadians, and wealthy people from other countries, will travel to the US for health care. But the health care they are purchasing is far beyond anything even US insurance companies will cover.

The Republicans recently made a big deal about one of our Provincial Premiers (same as a State Governor), Danny Williams from Newfoundland, going to the US for some testing and care. They neglected to point out that the dude is rich and went to a medical facility that doesn't take any sort of insurance, from anyone! He paid out of pocket just as anyone would.
