Has anybody found that this past year their non-adult stuff started really taking off? I've been doing non-adult stuff for a while now and truthfully not had huge success, but this last year I've been making good money..especially on the auction sites. I'm beginning to think that buying and selling is my "thing" LOL. Maybe it's the economy with people looking for deals and bargains on the net.

I just sold a letter from Senator Edward Kennedy to an auction site for $700. Now I'm looking through all my old papers to see if I have any other goodies. I used to be a political autograph hound so I must have a bunch of stuff somewhere.

I use to have an ebay store. However you have so many others selling crap for a buck on there it's hard to sell quality stuff there. Add all the little fees and you end up losing money.

Now I have my own leather site, plus a tourist site for Disney and theme parks in the Orlando area. My problem is trying to find out how you get traffic to mainstream sites. Adult has so many ways to get traffic.

But in mainstream everyone wants 20 bucks a month for your link in their footer!! Or if you swap links, you get put in their links page, which has it's link in,,,,, the footer!

I dont really use eBay. There are alternate sites like Atomic Mall or depending on what you have to sell, the specialty auction sites like the ones I am using for political letters and autographs. I'd really like to sell baseball cards but there are so many people out there doing it that I probably can't make much money with it. It definitely is harder to make money in non-adult although as I said this year has been exceptionally good. Keeping my fingers crossed for next year.

Advertising dollars and spending in general is down across the board.

However, there are infinitely more opportunities in non-adult right now. And i think many are seeing increased income there simply because bad market conditions in adult are forcing diversification.

The "real" money has always been in non adult. Its in communications, transportation, information and the infrastructure it takes to facilitate them. Has anyone ever in the history of the planet ever fought a war over control of pornography? Take your time......

There's another point there too...

There is no exit plan for an adult business that'll make you truly rich.

You're not going to do an IPO, you're not going to be bought by google, etc.

I'm actually thinking of going into business offline with a friend who owns a dollar store..well things aren't really a dollar..but they are cheap enough. His merchandise is mainly close outs and over runs. He does a lot of business where hes situated and there isn't anywhere near that the competition could set up. We could set up something to sell online as well. It would provide a nice steady income should the adult business really
go under. I think I'm going to do it.
