“Due to all of the free porn on the Internet, no one is paying for [DVDs],” Flynt said. “This is the biggest problem our industry is facing.”

Dear LA self proclaimed porn royalty - you cling to dvd sales like its the holy grail of revenue. You hold back VOD releases 3 weeks in hopes to push up DVD sales.

I submit to you that you kill your own revenue by clinging to a dead distribution model. Your treasured DVDs are on the torrent sites within hours of street release.

Illegal tubes contribute to the loss of revenue but I submit that the problem with loss in sales lies with YOU!

All of us would do better by reconnecting with the consumer to realize how to better serve their needs and stimulate sales. Too many companies are in a rush to get things rolling and hire people thaty have never paid to by porn to jerk off.

Know your customer.
Its what I try to do better daily.

There's another thing that is hurting sales, bookstore owners are ripping the original DVD's, re-printing the jackets, shrink wrapping them and putting them on the shelves as new. Often times lowering the price a few bucks to also generate sales, even nickel and dime hustlers are moving bootlegs at about $5 a pop or so.

Another thing that I've seen and doesn't help, is some porn stars will actually promote their movies and send fans to tubes that are featuring their scenes. So it's a combination of things, but the downside that I see is many younger folks are finding the free porn and tube sites to be the norm.

There a few things but tubes are a big one. Its turning a whole bunch of people to free that never had the time or the knowledge to go looking for it.

Spoken by people who never stood behind a DVD rental counter in urban America.
This is an area, I'm not ashamed to say, I'm an expert in.
For 9 years, I rented DVDs, 70% of which left all my stores were adult.
And they will be again.
I already own 2 DVD Kiosks, and will be installing them in 2 separate small towns for the purpose of renting DVDs, and geee, while they are there, we might just as well have adult DVDs, huh?

I'll make a killing.
Broadband penetration in the town is bellow 30%.
The closest store, Excitement video, is 9 difficult miles away from the town.
I'll be doing JUST fine.
