Unfortunate. At one time (when it was a flat board), it was right up there with Oprano and Netpond.

I guess Netpond won in the end . . .

Well I suppose there are a few scammy people still propping them up with advertising and sig whoring. Makes me shake my head when I see it. Desperation perhaps?

Just my luck to get a "Mod gig" at a board that goes belly up :hmm:

I'm sure it wont be the last board to die.

The ones with silly overhead are the ones to go first. Aint no more $4K a month gigs to post and say "good morning!" to everyone.

At least they got a coffee mug to remember it by.

ANS was big and relevant at the point that CE was one of the bigger programs, a bigger show sponsor, and generally a big player on the ground. Having a chatboard at that point was a good part of the entire "CE experience". It was also there to encourage newbies and existing affiliates alike to specifically promote the CE branded sites.

To that end, one of the better moves they made was to get Greenguy involved in their link list section, which was important at the time. It attracted many people to the board, and things were flying. Then GG went off to do his own board, and pretty much at the same time GFY became the "go to" board for everything else. That sort of left ANS with some slim pickings.

I could also say that Management of the board that that point didn't exactly contribute to keeping things going. The fall was swift, the end took years longer than I expected, honestly.

There are a number of similar boards out there, often run by sponsors and such that are dead, near dead, or have turned into spam holes. In a way, they are just like the sponsor / affiliate relationship, in tatters and in need of some attention.
