Is anyone else using GoogleVoice? Anyone?

I'm using it.

I'm a Vonage user and have my home phone set to SimulRing to my cell phone so that people can have one number to get me whether I'm home on away from home. But there are two problems with this. One is people get my cell number when I call them from my cell and then call me cell instead of my Vonage line so I miss calls. The other problem is people sometimes try to text my Vonage line and it doesn't do text messages so I never get the text.

Google voice solves both these problems for me. No matter what phone I'm using I initiate the call from Google Voice so the caller always gets my Google Voice number even if I'm calling from my cell. Also Google voice does text messages so if someone sends a text to it I still get my text message.

I have Google Voice forwarding into my Vonage line and my Vonage line SimulRings into my cell phone so now callers have one number that they text to or call.

I don't see anyplace in Google Voice to send invites so I guess I can't send any yet.

You can see more information about Google Voice here (http://www.google.com/googlevoice/about.html#).

Another nice feature of Google Voice is you can put a call widget on a webpage like I did on this page (http://www.terrizamore.com/links.html) of mine.

It's still in beta - I think until recently, it was only open to Grand Central users.

They're going to have a challenge with supply and demand on numbers.

The FCC has some very anal retentive rules about number management, and the pool of available numbers are VERY tight in areas like LA and NYC in particular. There's also some challenges they have to deal with in terms of e911 calling and location.

So look for them to scale this slowly.

Our mia ffn Richard Bush has it and uses it much same way cleo does. It offers a number that is totally location and device independent and unlike most voip providers, you can protect your device's native number on outbound calls.

It's a very nice vision for voip, and I think other providers and even cell providers will follow suit.

AT&T apparently feels threatened by it, they google voice apps from the iPhone yesterday.
