with "Web 2.0".....narrowly edging out "12clicks"

Frontrunners like "Jai Ho!" and "n00b" have been edged out by the ubiquitous "Web 2.0" in the race to become the English language's one millionth word, which ended today.
The one millionth word, which describes the next generation of World Wide Web products and services, was added at 5:22 a.m. ET., followed by word number 1,000,001: the self explanatory "financial tsunami."
The Global Language Monitor, a group that tracks new additions to the lexicon, had predicted the language would hit the milestone on Wednesday morning.
A number of words were in the running and it came down to the wire before Web 2.0 emerged as the winner.

"It has crossed from technical jargon into far wider circulation in the last six months," said a news release from the group.
The GLM registers new words when they can be proven to have been used more than 25,000 times by English speakers around the world.

This begs the question: How is "Web two point oh" a single word?

It's not a million distinct words, but a million words and phrases.
