It reads Vivere senza rimipianti. It's Italian for To live without regrets, but the last word is spelled wrong. There is an extra i in rimpianti.

Thats the oddest tattoo placement Ive ever seen at least for a Hollywood actress.

Similar to the placement of the large scrollwork tattoo that Sandee Westgate got recently.
http://lukeford.com/2009-04-22/sandee-westgate-has-a-new-tattoo-you-really-need-to-see/

I would think that such tattoos would somewhat hinder their marketability, especially for a glamour nude model like Sandee, but also for a Hollywood actress that might be cast in a role requiring a bikini or other costume where the tat would be glaringly visible.

Toby, I met her. ;)

Sandee Westgate pretty much took herself out of the sexy model world with that tat, it's a massive distraction that will take away from every sexy shot she does now. Worse, she won't even "MILF" well anymore.

I will be glad when tats go out of style again.

If that's real, Hayden is a moron. It doesn't really impact how she could be used in a movie because they would simply cover it up. However it greatly impacts her image.

My guess is she doesn't wanna be the sweet lil cheerleader anymore, did something impulsive, and now has to live with it.

Tattoos will never go "out of style"

That said her tattoo looks pretty real. Seriously doubt that its henna. Shitty placement and shitty work.

People that truly understand and appreciate tattoos don't get them as a fashion accessory. Anyone who gets a tattoo to be in style or because their friends have them is an idiot.

That would cover about 90% of the porn models with tattoos.

Don't get me going....I don't wanna be forced to shoot other people's idea of art. Most of which is unaldulterated crap. Girls who take off their clothes for a living and get tats lose large. I was going to hire a girl for a shoot that would have paid her a few grand till I saw her tramp stamp and that was that.
One girl I shoot is a tat artist and she doesn't have one tattoo. She says she will get them when she is finished in this business. Smart girl.

My fav was this moron guy who had his stage name tattooed up his arm with a copyright symbol and he constantly tried to present it to the camera. He now works at Safeway bagging groceries.

Exactly, and I fear that's the trend with many young women. They get it to be "cool" or whatever. Everyone does stuff like that when they're that age, however that one happens to be pretty damned permanent. And fair or not, it does impact people's image of the wearer, doubly so if it's female.

I absolutely respect everyone's ability to do whatever they want to their body. And I've seen ink that I can appreciate as art.

But everyone is wired differently in terms of what does it for 'em. Some people get turned on by chicks with nasty feet squishing those feet in ice cream. Some find that repulsive. Some like a pussy so hairy that chewbacca would be jealous, others want it smooth as a baby's ass.

Tattoos are the same way, some guys find them a huge turn on, some see it as defacing what is already a work of art on a body like Hayden's.

hey 12clicks, you still didn't answer the question. I cannot for the life of me see any other reason than vanity. Cause mostly it sure as shit ain't art, unless you consider black velvet art.....art.

So why do they get them?

Depends on the person. I have mine because each of them reminds me of something or someone important about myself, my history, or my family.

I hate the term "tramp stamp" and that all tattoos with specific placement, regardless of meaning or artistry, are dubbed trash. Mine was done at a specific personal milestone, after a lengthy consideration process - and frankly, the work that I wanted done wouldn't work anywhere else.

Wouldn't a diary be a more interesting and concise than a blended ink totem? Something you could pass on to your kids as well? As for the tramp stamp, I gotta disagree on that one. It just goes so well with the thong that usually rides above it. I think its called the tramp stamp for good reason, to my eye, and apparently many, many others, for a visible location, it is kinda trashy. My prediction it will soon be renamed the granny stamp when they finally fall out of fashion, and those that got em will be dated. You can change your hair. You can dress well. You can get a face lift, you work out an look young, but those tats are gonna live on like mullet on 40 year old.
Unless you are successful in the rock and roll biz, they are gonna make this generation very identifiable as next moves in, which I kinda of see happenening now. All you old guys will just move on up.

Well, I'm not having kids, so that's not a concern, and what's meaningful for me as a commemorative thing wouldn't be for them, even if it were a concern. Most of my work had five years of design clarification and placement consideration that went into it prior to being on my body. In the instance of my "tramp stamp," the size and shape, and other pieces I have in mind, made a single location the piece made sense.

Frankly, as I get older, I'm a helluva lot less likely to be wearing things that would make it visible anyhow. *shrug*

Like all things, it's a personal preference. I like tattoos and piercings. Some people don't. Some people regret them and can't undo them, some people don't.

Same thing can be said for pretty much any life-altering decision. Like, kids. Just as a fer-instance.

I kinda get it, and especially being in this business, am pretty tolerant of most things that don't impact my life negatively. Tats only fuck up my life in shoots when models show up with them. Notice they always hide them in their pr pics? They even lie and say they don't have them and show up on set with little ones....on their tits or ass or both. That sucks.
However, I sort of see why people choose to do this. It must be some primal thing that goes back to body modification in New Guinea or something that people feel a need. I did a film once on a guy in Toronto who had horns implanted in his forehead, a row of symetrical lumps over his skull, big honking implants all over his chest and back. His dick looked like an alligator and his legs were implanted with diagonal implants down his shin. Kinda looked like the devil in body armour. He had a need.

Oh yeah, kids grow up and leave. Tats just fade and bleed. They last forever.

Oh yeah, kids grow up and leave.

If you're lucky.

But you also have at least 18 years of headaches before you get there. I have laser as an option if I decide at some point I don't like my tattoos anymore. I still haven't found the place that lets me get rid of my kids after a few years if I decide it was a bad choice.

Except, of course, Nebraska (http://www.hhs.state.ne.us/SafeHaven/).
