I was looking to promote other stores with my affiliate code and was stunned at how little content many of the stores have uploaded. I wasted several hours parsing through the stores list.

If you're going to participate in the emerging clip store markets and programs, please understand that it really does you NO GOOD to only have 1 or 2 clips in your store. Affiliates of said clip programs will not be inclined to push your store. In my humble producer experience, I have found that sales don't really start until you get to the 15 - 20 scenes mark.

With that said, see sig ... I currently have 17 scenes in 2 of my stores and 9 in my third store. Hundreds more are on the way ...

Good points. We do very well with our www.astral-blue.com content on clips 4 sale. without even bothering to drive traffic we turn a very nice profit every month.

We do share links with other stores in the same niches. Not sure about spending time to drive traffic there. Might as well send it to the main site.

We do real well at C4S also Paul, but that site is not really relevant to this thread. I was trying to bring to surface the fact that other clip store sites, like ClipClinic, have affiliate programs to help generate traffic, not only for the site, but also for specific producer stores. I was trying to fill in some niche lists on one of my traffic sites and could not find many stores with any depth of product on them. I'm not going to put up a link, to a store with only a few scenes in them. I'll give it another month or so and go back down the list again ...

I have a bunch of clips in my store. But a major part of the problem is that it is extraordinarily tedious, difficult and time consuming to add clips to the ClipClinic stores. In another thread I posted a detailed list of actions that one had to go through to add a single clip and it was twenty steps (20!) and more than a half dozen screens to slog through to add a clip, which all takes a good 12-15 minutes each. It's not just backwards, it's insane how convoluted the process is!

I have hundreds of clips on my Clips4Sale store and many in my Clips.com stores. But those were easy and quick to add with one screen where you can re-use the information from the previous screen to add a clip in C4S for example. I would have to hire a third world laborer at a few dollars per hour to add clips to my ClipClinic store. I may just break down and do it so that I can finally hope to achieve a sale with ClipClinic.com!

I hear ya' on that Jim, but all of the clip places are evolving and I am sure the Clinic will keep tweeking it's backend. On the positive note, your store at ClipClinic is one of the ones I did put up a link to ... you have 24 scenes at last count. Besides, who can resist promoting Lesbian Cheerleaders???! My rant was definately not aimed at producers such as yourself.

Not sure if an affiliate program is right for these sites, we would not send traffic to a clips site that had other peoples content in. I think the best route for these clips stores is to buy traffic. Might be wrong though.

One of the most obvious reasons there is not a lot of content in some stores is they don't make the owners money. Profit generates work. LOL

Right on. People don't do all that unless the return is there.

ClipClinic need lots of clips to keep the customers coming, they need to make it easy and profitable for those who contribute content. Without lots of good content there stores will not get the traffic.

MRock, thanks for your comments. I believe in the future of downloadable clip stores as a business model. I did pretty good business with C4S when I first launched my store there and also have made sales on Clips.com. My teen lesbian, cheerleader and lesbian kissing videos are a little more mainstream than most of the fetish and amateur clip stores that are really successful on these sites however. I haven't made a single ClipClinic sale yet with the couple of dozen clips I have on there so I am loathe to invest the time into uploading more. The new design of ClipClinic looks nice but one has to update frequently to stay on that front page like with many of these sites, and that is a tall order with ClipClinic. Hopefully they will update the interface and make it easier to update the stores.

Instead of promoting third party clips sites however, I actually started my own token based downloadable clip store on my own domain at http://JimGunn.com and I started sending my own traffic to there with my own biller. It's nice to keep control of one's traffic and make a $50 sale and keep more than 95% of the money rather than giving 40%-60% to another site and having traffic leaks. I can even have an affiliate program in place if I wish to do so. I still send some traffic to C4S but I consider the third party clip stores to be gravy at this point while I grow traffic to my own stores.

Actually Jim.
I featured your store for more than a month on the front page as a staff pick.

It dont get much better than that.
Glad you like the new design.

Thanks for the effort, Gonzo. Seems like the more amateurish and fetish-oriented stores are doing okay. Maybe my clips are not that great a fit for the traffic at this time.

Glad to hear it.

There are a few more future enhancements planned on down the road.
The new look was the last of my participation and the project manager is now Angela Wilson. Ill see if I can get her to pop in over here.

Ive taken on some of my former duties back in the advertising group but I talk to her daily.

We call her Q short for Qtip.
She is managing the pornotube schedule now and can get you all hooked up.

Just told Eva to submit some of the best sellers from C4S. The site looks good and I'm sure it will work for us.

As I told Jim Gunn and a few others. These surfers are not your average buyer. They are collectors and they are picky.

If you submit some of your more obscure or fetishy clips Im sure they will do well. Look at the top stores to get an idea of what people are looking for which does vary.

From what Ive seeen they seem to purchase stuff that is different and doesnt look commercial.

Indy porn. Sites like Trixie and Furry girl have are pure indy porn in nature.
