I think it will eventually happen, but not this time.

I think that to create a legalised scenario makes a lot of sense - it's pretty well documented that gang activity increases in conjunction with illegality of commodities that are in demand from the general populace (though last time, we call them "mobsters").

I'm curious, actually, now that I think about it, how much in tax revenues are received - and how much ISN'T spent on enforcement - since Prohibition was lifted.

Great idea. Where I live there is a marijuana coffee shop and tons of stores that sell great seeds. Works for me. I can't believe its still actually illegal.

If cigarettes and booze are legal, weed should be as well. Tax it same way and not only create an influx of cash for the feds, but also dramatically increase sales of ding dongs, doritos, funyons, honey buns, and those slimey QuikTrip hot dogs.

I think it would be great. I'm sure there would be some revenue from "premium herb", but don't you think most smokers would just start growing in their backyard? Meaning, not a ton of extra tax money? It's not as hard to create as booze and tobacco. I know I would have a garden. :) I think the gov has more incentives to keep it as "the evil weed" ... They just busted another "million dollar operatin grow house" here yesterday. Last week they busted one that was set up underground in an old WWII bomb shelter, now that one was incredible to see!
