I felt kinda weird accepting on our behalf, but Brad was super-cute and so excited to win after four years of noms.

I was very honored to win the award this year and pleased to see so many others do the same (congrats Liz!!).

Many of us work so hard and it feels great to be acknowledged for such dedication. I believe Xbiz is a very professional organization... So many rumors out there! For the record, I had no clue I was going to win. I also have not ever advertised with Xbiz. We didn't ask any employees, friends or clients to vote for us.

I felt like when I won... that so many others did too, so thank you all.

:)

I will say the winners list this year really looks legit in that everyone is very deserving. Not a lot in there I'd raise an eyebrow at....

I cant say that in year's past for anyone's awards.

Thanks, everyone!

Like Brad - to the best of my knowledge, no one here asked clients, friends, or affiliates to vote for us - I'm not entirely sure I ever even saw the voting thread, actually. As I said Thursday night - without our amazing affiliates, we wouldn't be where we are. So, really, it's a win for them!

I know I didnt.
The point I was making was in the past Ive seen the choices be pretty blatant rewards for major advertisers.

I left out Stockroom on my list as well but the rest of that is a pile of crap. Lori Z for business woman of the year? I guess someone at Xbiz is hitting that now.

Gonzo, you are correct on this one. Most "industry award" deals are pretty much built on whoever is paying the bills that month. While good companies often rise to the top, there is often still a tinge of "who bought ads, who didn't".

I can still remember a certain based program owner (who would like us to think is no longer in the business) giving Fay Sharp what for because her voting program didn't count his clickbot (or whatever method used) properly and denied his program an award many years ago. I learned a whole bunch about awards shows that day, lessons that will never be forgotten.

Congrats to the winners.

I know EXACTLY who you are talking about Alex. I'm so glad I wasn't onboard with Cybernet at that point... I would have gone fuckin ballistic.

Oh and while there is still often a "tinge of who bought ads, who didn't"... there is also the tinge of "who can we get to buy ads NOW."...

Congrats to everyone who won it was well deserved. But its time, I think, that these awards saw beyond mainstream and looked at the huge amounts of porn created that is not a:American and b: horny as fuck and well deserving of awards. At the moment it is only a handful of companies and individuals that are even looked at. Mostly because they participate in the convention game. This is the internet and it is huge. Perhaps it is time to recognize this fact. Much of the porn that is created today is amazing and sells very well. The Japanese, for instance produce amazing work that is as good as, if not better than most of the cookie cutter mainstream porn that xbiz pushes. The British are doing some really profitable and successful product. The whole "amateur" and niche market has been ignored. If these awards are to mean anything, then it is time to think outside the American mainstream box.

I agree - there are fantastical amounts of content out there in other categories that are not recognised. In this particular case, I believe nominations were garnered via GFY and emailed suggestions and voted upon from there. I could well be mistaken, as I rarely spend time on many boards.

I do believe that xBiz made efforts to have those nominations held as openly as possible, but due to the nature of their methodology, if a program's supporters are not active in the channels they pursue, that program will not get the visibility it may well deserve.

Good point Liz, but this is the internet and Xbiz can surf as well as the rest of us. Its a big world and perhaps in this rough economic time, it might be a good idea to seek out new and possibly very profitable possibilities.
