Just a few notes and such from the Vegas shows.
First off, CES was "light" on attendance, numbers ranging from 30 - 50 % down from the previous year meant that hotel rooms were cheaper, taxis were plentiful, and there were no lineups for much of anything in Vegas. How odd.
The AEE show looked like a pretty solid success again. The merging of internet and the video world is all but complete, which is making the Internet show look a little bit lost in the shuffle, more on that in a second. Splitting the "industry only" stuff off to it's own room is a good idea, kept that room quiet but allowed some time to check things out a little more clearly. Thanks to BangWang and all the crew at Silver Sinema / Silvercash for providing me a nice spot to view the world from at AEE, certainly much to be learned about marketing by watching real porn customers and their actions at the show. Oh yeah, $80 a person to get in... I think this show MIGHT be profitable.
Internext: Thanks first of all to AK from Dating Gold for the badge hookup. The show was, well, hmm... lame? Confused? lacking in direction? It's hard to put a finger on it, I know that plenty of business got done (including my own) but the layout of the show just doesn't encourage interaction on the show floor, which in turn leads to more interaction in the central bar in the casino, where plenty of people without badged did what they did best.
My personal suggestion is that the Internext show in Vegas should be pretty much canceled and folded into the AEE show back at the Sands, expand the "industry only" area for web people, and admit that there is no longer such a strong seperation between church and state in porn.
Nice to see everyone again, I am due to reappear at a show in 2011 or so.
