I posted on another thread and got to thinking...what do I enjoy the most about porn? It pays really fucking well. I don't have to get up in the morning if I don't want to. I can travel as much as i like. We pay our own way on a wing and a prayer with no safety net or fucking bail outs and I am proud of that. I have a vast community of online enemies and friends which makes life interesting.....at both ends of that scale. All in all I would say that this has been a good choice. Its about ten years on and I still enjoy my work. Its not all good, but the glass is still ninety per cent full.

#1 - Being my own boss. I put in far more hours than I did working for wages, but with a fraction of the stress.

#2 - Working from home. No fucking commute!

I commute......from my third bedroom to my second.

I like working from home and not having to drive! I work more hours but I enjoy the conversations via im and phone. I like that if I go out of town I can still work wherever I am. The free porn is great too!

I like quite a bit about it. Being your own Boss is always good, but the way we work on-line, it's even better! When I started years ago, I built up a fairly large company, and had 24 employees in a 10,000 sq.ft. office/studio complex. I found myself working harder than I had before, and spending very little time at home. Back in 2004, I had enough and was burning out. I downsized by laying off all my production staff and most of my designers and programmers. I shut down the studios, and just moved my personal office back home. My guys all work from home too. That removed so much stress from my life! :)

My revenues are nowhere at the level they once were, but at the end of the day, my profits are almost the same! While some gauge success on corporate revenue, I gauge it on what's in my pocket at the end of the day. I did slow down quite a bit for a few years, and spent some time enjoying myself. But this past year I got a bit antsy and have started some new projects which are keeping me busy once again. But, I'm also enjoying myself again.

The downside of this industry is actually the people! It's hard for me to even to pretend to like many of the people I meet at shows and such. Just so many posers, and wannabe playas and pimps! I sometimes do find it embarrassing! Too many people treat this industry as a Lifestyle and not a Business, and that usually shows in their own "success". The people I enjoy in this industry are the ones that understand it's a business and act like fairly normal people. That tends to be mainly the other "old-timers" that are still around. I know that may sound snobbish, but it is how I feel.

At the top of the list for me has to be that my bawdy sense of humour doesn't get nearly as many shocked looks - and I have to edit/ self-censor myself much, much less.

Coming in a close second would be a tie between the incredible people I've met (though there are, of course, those that fall into the "douche nozzle" category) and the really relaxed atmo. If I am having a "jeans" kind of day, it's nice that I can indulge that without fear of recrimination.

The product, the work, the people, the money, the fun, the freedom, the no commute, the travel... on it goes and in no particular order.

..the travel...

I enjoy visiting other places once I get there, but I absolutely hate the travel part.

Douche nozzle?? LOL Never heard that one before.

Pretty much agree with what has been said here by folks as to why they like it though I almost never see people from the biz as I am nowhere near an area with people from the biz.
