View Full Version : AEBN's Scott Coffman Named FSC's Man of the Year

The Free Speech Coalition will honor AEBN president and founder Scott Coffman this week at its annual fundraising gala, "Election 2008 Bash." The organization, which works to protect First Amendment rights and is largely supported by the adult industry, has named the VOD pioneer as its "Man of the Year" for 2008. "The Bash" will be held Saturday, October 11th at the Universal Studio Globe Theatre at Universal Studios in Universal City, California.

Mr. Coffman is the president of Adult Entertainment Broadcast Network (AEBN) the leader in global video-on-demand. Coffman and his partners founded AEBN almost a decade ago, and have continued to lead the business in innovation of VOD delivery format and beyond.

Along with Mr. Coffman, the event will honor Rondee Kamins of Transworld News as Woman of the Year, Sureflix Digital Distribution as Business of the Year, with its Legacy Award going to Harry Mohney of Déjà Vu.

Congrats to him. However, the award is limited to only supersonic members, so Scott will have to join with their 1 million dollar special supersonic membership, otherwise he isn't covered :)

Interesting you guys think this is well deserved... many in the DVD side are not happy with a president of a VOD company and the guy that launched PornoTube getting an award like this.

I will be there on Saturday to hear his speech. I am interested in hearing what he will say about the state of the industry and the role AEBN will play in the future of it.

And I am not taking sides in this... its just interesting to see the different points of view.

Interesting you guys think this is well deserved... many in the DVD side are not happy with a president of a VOD company and the guy that launched PornoTube getting an award like this. And I won't get into tube sites either (as they are a mixed blessing, not one-sided IMHO), but for DVD folks NOT to do VOD -- or to be against VOD -- is like when movie studios got pissed at the other movie studios who first embaissed VCR over theatres - Dumb!

Or when the music industry were once against audio tape cassettes. Or as bad as Viacom being against Internet streaming. It's another vehicle for money, damn it!!

The thing is, I can excuse mainstream for being morons. I can NOT excuse porn people for not seeing another way to make money. That's supposed to be what they excel at!!!
