Sordid tale. He gets cops the guilty plea for a light sentence as opposed to taking his chances.

The untold peice of the puzzle is an employee on the inside violated his probation and tuned states witness.

Cash Titians affilaite money was filerted into a girlfriends account to the total of 65K and then turned over to the Feds.

Same employee wiretapped conversation in an effort to coerce information for the case. Turned over all Cash Titians affilate information....so if you are like me you are again on the Feds radar.

If thats not enough to try and pick up any other ammunition the Feds attended the '06 Miami Internext show incognito. So all you smoking dope and snorting coke....your now on their radar.

All defendants are currently in jail in Pensicola.

Oprano will be recieving a statement from both Ray Guhn and Andy Craft in the next few days.

Umm.. Just to make things clear..The employee and girlfriend that turned on Ray Guhn WAS NOT Jim Manley aka Andy Craft and his girlfriend. That would be me and I was at that internext. Just wanted to clear that up before anyone made assumptions. I will leave it up to you to put the pieces together of who is the real shitbag.

Here is the news article

http://www.pnj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080811/NEWS01/80811010&referrer=FRONTPAGECAROUSEL

this quote basically sums up the truth..

NO illegal acts were commited by Mr. McCowen. This was a clear case of DA abuse. All taxes were paid, all legal docs were in place and all requirements for opperating a 100% LEGAL adult content site were followed. No person under age of 18 was ever involved. In fact the judges summary states thet there were no grounds for any of the other charges brought against Mr McCowen. Some grey areas were infringed on by the employees, but all in all it came down to the DA's office bankrupting everyone involved and refusing to end this fiasco unless everyone pled to something. No details are listed about the "illegal wire transfer". No evidence at all making this a "deal" between the DA and the courts just to see this all go away. The statutes sugest an 8 to 10 months suspended sentence for this, but the DA's office threatened to proceed with it and tie up the court for months if there wasnt "heavy" punishment. Russ Edgar is a blight on this country and this state, as well as his profession!

It's really too bad that the guys didn't get a real attorney for this, and not just someone who plays one on the Internet (just my opinion). I'm sure it would have gone a lot better for them.

When is the appeal happening?

the most expensive thing you will ever buy is a cheap attorney.

This case once again touches on the problem of producing porn in the US and what certain DAs with an agenda will do to shut you down.

Sadly, it would appear that his lawyers gave him somewhat less than the best advice (my opinion only) because they seem to have negotiated a settlement WITHOUT specifying the punishment, and as a result, he gets 4 years on a charge that most people would get a slap on the hands and a gentle financial reaming on.

The intenation was to stop the production of porn, and the DA has succeeded in that regard. Too bad Ray and others will have to take it up the ass for a while as a result.

in your opinion

(add that qualifier, and it limits your liability in what's being said since it's now just a personal opinion and not libelous) ;)

Don't you think the "maybe" is a qualifier?

Actually, possibly the most expensive thing you can get is an attorney that loves to talk a good game and then remarkably encourages everyone to plea bargain.

But hey.

So does anyone know Mr. Walter's track record? First I heard of him was a case where he defended Becka Lynn, who I believe went on to be a c and w singer.

He also defended Barbi from blondflasher.com when she had the site barbieflashes.com. This was way back in 1998 or 1999. Mattel sued them and Larry recommended they settle out of court for $5K. The thing is, she had been know as Barbie since she was a child and wasn't infringing on the trade mark in any way. It was just a nonsense case that would have been immediately thrown out.
