...with a nod to Howard Beale (Peter Finch).

Pre-checked cross sales have gotten completely out of control. So the following has been added to the submit page on all my TGP's.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:
Any gallery that promotes a sponsor that
uses pre-checked cross sales below the submit
button on their join page will not be listed.
click for example (http://www.dressingforsex.com/images/xsale.gif)

In the grand scheme of things my sites are just an inflamed pimple of the buttocks of the WWW, but perhaps some others with a bit more influence will see this and follow suit. If not, well... at least I tried.

Good idea sweetie, but it might help if you also listed the offending sponsors, and maybe tell why prechecked cross sells are bad for the biz.

I realise it's a bit more work, but there are still alot of noobs coming into this every day that just don't know any better, and probably don't even know what a pre checked cross sell is.

The better people are informed of the troubles this can cause, the better chance there is of putting pressure on the sponsors to stop using them.

Maybe we can all pull together and help you come up with a list of the ones that use the prechecked.

The list is staggering, and growing quickly. What I really want my submitters to do is to go check the join pages of their sponsors.

First off, Gonzo, would it be possible to either start a pre-checked cross sale thread and sticky it or create somewhere that it can be listed and maintained

Second, I started to look through sponsors I promote to see who is going what. It seems that many of the older players (many of them tired, un-cared for programs) have moved to cross sales in a big way. Some of the CCBill sites has cross sales, but not pre-checked. Almost everyone usings NATS is using pre-checked cross sales, which may explain why people feel they get worse sales when programs move to NATS.

It is pretty amazing.

Can anyone raise people from the major billers to come on over and explain this shit to us?

there is an eerie silence as everyone grabs for the last straw.

What a change a month makes.

Good for Toby.

Even if it means absolutely nothing in terms of impact to the industry, it makes a statement to his users and desire to not jerk them around.

This raises one question, is sticky traffic valuable on a TGP? Do the sticky users actually buy anything or do they just stop by to spank it to whatever free content they can scrounge each day? My hunch would be on a niche or fetish TGP stickiness has some value because the content is more difficult to find.

Here is an interesting thing, I took this (randomly) from 3Xtom's new program:

Revenue Share Payments: DC offers a Revenue Sharing option to Affiliates. Under the Revenue Sharing option of the Program, Affiliates receive 50% of the gross receipts from referred accounts, less applicable processing fees and other related fees charged by the third party processors who process charges for DC.

Now, his program (the new one) doesn't have any prechecked cross sales (but jayman cash sites appear to have one). Now if income was generated by a referred account, would I not be entitiled to 50% of it less processing? It would appear that the terms pretty much say I get 50% of revenue (without restriction on the sources of revenue)

Anyone? Pornlaw? ;)

Good idea Toby, it has to start somewhere. I've been checking the various programs we promote and removed a number of them due to the pre-checked cross-sales. I also e-mailed every program I did that with to inform them as to why. Big Surprize...no one has e-mailed me back ;)

Danny, the pattern I have noticed is this: Any program that suddenly converted to NATS in the last 6 - 8 months is almost certainly doing pre-checked cross sales. It's like a disease.

I've noticed that little trend too ;)
