I am musing tonight. My opinion is the only ones that will survive this are those who send appropriate traffic to appropriate content. Only cooked spaghetti will stick to the fridge.

Hmmm, I agree with posts by both you and Hammer in the same week.

But, we had this discussion while in SF so you already knew I agreed.

I know, toby, but I kind of wanted to make it a topic of discussion.

You're right however I'm afraid it will be a bit tougher than that for many.

This in a nutshell and be very general is the problem.

Too much free stuff and too little stuff worth buying. (I told you it was general.)

In the past it worked and all we needed to do was fill a site or send traffic to it. Today it's harder tomorrow it will be very hard.

Sending targeted traffic to a hardcore site with content, exclusive or not, that is the same as what's being given away for free will not get someone to hand over $30.

The content has to be special and different. He has absolutely no need to sign up to jerk off for 15 minutes today. So you need to give content that's not cloned on 500 other sites and not created to a price. HD only shows how good or bad the porn is, it does not make a guys dick hard unless he's a techie. You need to have enough good content that justifies in his mind a 30 day membership. Also give him add ons like DVD, cell phone and ipod videos. All helps to justify a $30 price tag.

The bottom line is, IF IT'S EASY TO PRODUCE IT WILL BE ON 500 OTHER SITES AND 20 TUBES. So no need to pay for it.

The value for money has to reflect what the surfer thinks and not the sponsor is good value. Unless it's a micro niche or an absolutely drop dead horny hot babe 40 videos will not cut it. And forget about DVD scenes ripped to the Net. Most of it is poor quality stuff produced for a price to fill shelves. There is better stuff on You_tube_porn.com

Tomorrow you are going to have to give the surfer a lot more than "You like teens, so try this teen site."

We are coming out with a Classic UK Porn site soon. It will sell to those who like classic UK porn because there are not enough to fill the demand.

PMT will stay open but we have a lot of plans for it.

Paul cracks me up bitching about stuff being free yet look at his signature promoting free content.

Paul are you just going to post you usual hype and leave for a month until we get to read yet another self promoting post?

If so....save it for the zoo.

Hi Gonzo, read it again and think a bit harder. You're reading what you want to read just like they do on the zoo.

So here it is again.

If you have a site that has nothing better or different than what the surfer can get for free, why should he spend money? There are reasons and sites like Video Box do it. $10 a month for 10,000 videos. Convenience, value for money, etc.

But if you have something the surfer can't get for free, and a blond on a sofa is not exclusive content even if it's the only scene of this blond and that sofa, and something he wants badly enough he will pay for it.

Or you can keep throwing traffic at the same sites that are not signing up. But tell the affiliates your site is bucking the trend and doing even better this year than last.

Special quality porn content is KING.

Here's another thought. It's very general and there are exceptions.
The guys that are running most sites are under 35, surf for free, if they do like porn don't know why people buy porn and selling to 25 year olds. Is this the right person to be selling porn and is this the best target market?

Should we start thinking under 25s don't know what porn they like, won't buy it and know how to get it for free. The surfer over 45 is looking for very specific porn, will buy and does not trust Torrents and DOES NOT want to waste hours searching a tube site for scenes he likes.

The days of throwing shit at the wall are drawing to a close.

Then why were you tossing out your special content to redtube a few months ago?

Work out what? That you say one thing while you do another?

Work out what? That you say one thing while you do another?

AND HERE IS THE REASON THE INDUSTRY FACES THE PROBLEMS IT DO TODAY. WITH EXPERTS LIKE THIS IT'S SMALL WONDER.

The scenes we put up on the Tubes brought in sales rather than took them away. The content appeals to 40 to 70 year olds, who have learned to use a computer but not enough for Torrents or to upload to Tubes. They see one scene they like and look for more and find a few samples. Then come and buy from the site.

Unlike the porn most churn out day after day. Where if you can't find the scene you like from producer A, there's producer B and all the rest through to Z and back again. That kind of content has been hurt by Tubes. Because there is no need to pay for it.

It's not only that tubes stop people needing to pay, it's also many many sites aren't worth buying. Think SUPPLY x DEMAND and you might get it.

That's it and if you can't get it that's your problem.

I quoted this to make sure that everyone sees that you say one thing while you do another. While your looking to replace your declining income mine has grown over the past few years.

Your doublespeak might play out with the children, stoners and numbnuts though.

Good luck with that.
