A Barack Obama T-shirt with a picture of cartoon character Curious George has sparked a protest in Georgia on Wednesday. The T-shirt equates Obama to the likeness of the cartoon monkey.

The shirt being sold at Mulligan's Food and Spirits, a bar in Marietta, shows Curious George, the cartoon monkey, peeling a banana with the words "Obama in '08" printed beneath.

About a dozen people gathered outside the bar Tuesday to protest the shirt. The Southeast regional director of the Anti-Defamation League says the shirt is "an outrageous slur" against Obama and all African-Americans.

Mike Norman, who owns Mulligan's Food and Spirits says the T-shirt is not meant to be racist. He told the Associated Press that he thinks it's funny because he says Obama and Curious George "look so much alike."

I have a friend who was born and bread in Joburg. He moved to NYC where he lived for years. He is a six foot tall blue eyed blond African. He is a genuine African American not like these wannabe black folks who have never set foot on the dark continent.

I agree and as a Canadian I find it very offensive, arrogant and useless. I don't go around identifying myself as a Scottish Canadian. In fact I don't feel a need to id myself at all. My people did struggle for hundreds and hundreds of years and we were enslaved, and we do have an identity. A very strong one. A very successful one. A country of some of the greatest inventions of all time. So I don't quite think that argument flies.
