Interesting.

Good, if it's accurate. (especially for the non-flagged sites in the SERPs) But very very bad if it is not.

I figured this might get some people all stirred up... but have to agree with your point it could be very good for those not flagged in the SERP.

Yahoo! Search Engine to Use McAfee Malware Scanner

Program expected to nix illicit website from search results.
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Through a partnership announced Tuesday, Yahoo! (http://www.yahoo.com/) will incorporate the McAfee Site Advisor (http://www.siteadvisor.com/) malware scanning program into its search engine.

The companies expect the joint venture to eliminate illicit websites from Yahoo! search results. Yahoo! said it also will flag dodgy sites in an effort to advise users of reported problems.

Warning: Unsolicited E-mails" and "Warning: Dangerous Downloads" are among the warning messages.

Firefox Add On, Site Advisor's main product, provides similar warnings. It is comparable to Haute Secure (http://www.hautesecure.com/) and has been downloaded 135 million times, according to McAfee.

The new feature for Yahoo! search users is optional, but the default setting is "on.

The quickening is at hand!

OK, but here's a 'what if" scenario for you...

A security hole in one of your scripts allows hackers to insert malicious code into your pages. It takes you several days to become aware of the problem and get it cleaned off your server. In the mean time your sites are visited by this malware bot and flagged.

How do you go about getting removed?

I went and had a search on a bunch of our sites, just in case. Right now, someone is spamming with 3 of our e-mail addresses as the return address, and we are getting close to 6000 "returned" e-mails a day from those 3 accounts. The last time that happened, the assholes over at RBL blacklisted our domain for e-mail. I get worried we'll get blacklisted again, and show up on something like that new Yahoo page.
