Believers can see Christ's image in damn near anything but I'll be damned if I saw anything on that guy's cell phone but a smudge.

In olden days, the church was the center of education and power in backwards regions. There had to be a central power, and why not make them worship some all knowing god that would smite them if they got out of line. The priests carefully controlled the knowledge, and twisted it to mean all manner of "godly things."

But humans are a curious lot, and the knowledge snuck out. The church has been trying to put the "stuff" back in the bottle ever since.
The whole "god" thing is pointless and stupid to an enlightened society.

Some all seeing, and knowing god, that allows suffering for it's own perverse enjoyment?
