I saw this on Daily Planet last night. Truly impressive. Its main purpose though is to manage all the data generated by collectors at the Large Hadron Collider so I don't think it'll ever replace the Internet. Instead I think the Internet will evolve to be just as fast (or faster) one day... if we survive that is.

Alot of people are terrified that the Large Hadron Collider will trigger something called "The Strangelet Scenario". A strangelet (a hypothetical object consisting of a bound state of roughly equal numbers of up, down, and strange quarks) would smaller than an atom but could by contagion, convert anything else it encountered into a strange new form of matter. A Hypothetical strangelet disaster could transform Earth into an inert hyperdense sphere about 100 metres across.
