I have a nice warm box of doughnuts that says someone has bought a majority equity interest as a silent partner.

Pimproll would be the most logical buyer.

well lemme tell ya, I will have the odd bagel in timmy's, very seldom a doughnut. They fucked it up since they stopped frying them.

On the other hand as far as Krispy's I really dont see what the fuss is all about ;) They had a few locations up here and after the hoopla died down, they all went bust.

What you don't understand, Gonzo, is Toronto and Hamilton are the dog nut shop capitals of the world. It is a little known fact that Toronto is an ancient Ojibway indian word that loosely translated means "Land of a thousand doughnut shops". I would guess ten top Tims prolly outsell all of Krispy Kremes in the world. KK crashed and burned in Canada because of inferior dog nuts.
In Vancouver, however, there are very few doughnut shops. Here it is all grande lattes and granola muffins.

You can't buy a decent Tim Hortons in Vancouver. Besides, that crackwhore flophouse was out in the burbs if I remember. Somewhere near where a one time illustrious playa lives in a billion dollar house or something. Someday you should make it to the city.

Yeah, I used to have to go to Toronto and venture out to Kitchener and Waterloo on a semi-regular basis. That's one thing I noticed is they have doughnut shops with perhaps a greater frequency than you see Waffle Houses in the south.

Problem is doughnuts are kinda like BBQ and people tend to have preferences that are regional with what's familiar. In the south, it's usually krispy kreme....deep fried and covered in glazed sugar from the "magic sugar waterfall" and best served hot off the line where they melt in your mouth like cotton candy.

Dunkin Donut lovers basically want a small round cake with a hole in it. Tim Horton fans prefer the bland taste of one month old boxed doughnuts that we sell to the yankees headed to Florida on I-75 here in the south.

The other thing I noticed in that area of Canada though is seemingly every small restaurant had a "house beer" brewed in the back. And this is long before the micro brewery craze.

Bob and Doug Mackenzie had it right...."beer and doughnuts ay?"

Worst dining experience of my life!

Travelled all day and got stuck in some remote shithole in the middle of no where by Nickatilynx, and the ONLY thing open to eat was Hortons and it was pure SHIT!
