Top Five Reasons to Attend Cybernet Expo

5) All seminars and workshops are geared specifically for the adult Internet business. That means you run the dangerous but exciting risk of learning things relevant to making more money in your business. We promise not to have any seminars or workshops on how to cling to DVD sales or faking orgasms for video, and we absolutely promise not to hand out awards to the sponsors who paid us the most money while you feign interest.

4) Relive your college days and leech free food and free drinks! Thanks to HotMovies.com, you’ll get to enjoy a free gourmet lunch while talking to representatives from the Free Speech Coalition about what you would like to see your trade organization tackle in the future. But you also won’t be left dry. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to toss down a few tasty beverages on our show sponsors because, let’s face it, alcohol just tastes better when someone else pays for it.

3) The show takes place in one of the coolest cities in America. You can’t get much better than San Francisco for an adult industry convention, a city that is known for great food, great sights, and even greater debauchery. It doesn’t matter your sexual preference, your kink, your fetish, whatever… San Francisco will still take your money with a smile, and the smile won’t be fake!

2) We actually give a shit about your ROI! We made sure that you won’t have to pay $400 a night for your rooms at Cybernet Expo, with rooms starting at $169 per night. We also kept our show badge prices lower than industry norms, with Earlybird prices at just $129. We know it’s a bit “unconventional,” but we thought why not make sure attendees actually get more value than the cost of attendance!

1) Increase your chance to get laid by up to 50% from a normal weekday. Why? Because Cybernet Expo attendees are going to experience some of the best parties of the year. D-Money is working on putting together a Player’s Ball that San Francisco won’t soon forget. Cybersocket has signed on to host the opening night party on June 10th, and Kink.com is treating Cybernet attendees to a soiree at the Armory Building that will be unlike anything this industry has seen before. These events, coupled with various late night hotel room gatherings and impromptu trips to local bars have been scientifically shown to increase your chance to get laid by up to 50% for men, and up to 250% for hot women.

[Disclaimer: We made up the statistics in 1, but we did have a dream where Jesus descended from the clouds and said many people would in fact get laid at Cybernet Expo this year. We can neither confirm not deny the Messiah’s comments.]

Ya know, I might actually jump in the old Volvo and head out down I5 and attend this thing. Mainly because I want to go to San Francisco and eat at the French Laundry and this might be the excuse. Any of these sponsors have the class or juice to book this place? (not a prayer) If you don't know this place....Google it. I hear it may have good pickles and dog nuts.

Two things re: The French Laundry.
1) Don't let them hear you say it's in San Francisco, that's slumming to those in the Napa Valley. Figure a minimum of 60 minutes to drive to Yountville from the city, IF the traffic is good.
2) Good luck getting a reservation, they're booked up solid 60 days out, which is as far in advance as they'll accept reservations.

sixty minutes in a big city is nothing. Hell, when I lived in London that was almost central. Sixty days? Again good restaurants can be months. So that's all good. Did you enjoy your meal?
I know it got its third star which is no mean feat. I have eaten in starred restaurants in Europe and this is one of the first in North America. I hear Guy Savoy has opened a pretty nice place in Vegas that sounds like it would be worth a look. His restaurant and bistro in Paris are nice.
So the French Laundry is on my map which is more why I would go to my first ever convention. Plus I used to go to San Francisco in the sixties and it was a great place. I was there a few years ago and it had turned into a mecca for Red Skelton art, but I am willing to give it another chance. Plus there are a few people from AM days that live around there that I would love to see. Hell, we might even finally meet. I'll be the one wearing a white sports coat and a pink carnation.

Will I get to see the vivacious Mrs. T, too?

I have a funny story about them and Cybernet Expo.

We were out there at the opening party in San Diego the 2nd year they had it there at some kind of white trash party thing.

Somehow we ended up on the deck of this thing and I had not met either the Mr or the Mrs. So I introduced myself [yeah I know its a rariety] and I thought she was being a smart ass calling herself "Mary Taint".

So I told her I had not met many taints that were so happy. Usually they were irritated or felt slighted.

Thank god she either couldnt hear me or had been drinking enough not to understand what I meant.... or maybe she was just being polite to the fat guy that she thought was being an asshole.

Later on LAJ let me know that wasnt how you said their name and told me that it was a real last name.

Nice people all around and always seem to have something new to talk about.

The 60 minutes is a best case, from late afternoon on you'll be caught in the daily commuter crush until you get across the bridge and north of Marin County.

I've not been to The French Laundry, but my brother lives in San Francisco and has been there as well as most of the other fine dining establishments in the area. His opinion, for what it's worth... French Laundry is still excellent, but is living on past reputation. He feels any of the following are as good or better, and you don't have to leave the city, Gary Danko (http://www.garydanko.com/), Fleur de Lys (http://www.fleurdelyssf.com/) or Boulevard (http://www.boulevardrestaurant.com/). Of course, if what you want is to be able to say that you've eaten at The French Laundry the others aren't an option.

Thanks for that. But I will always defer to the third star. You have to experience it to believe it. I haven't checked recently, but if they still have it, I gotta try and be there. And its nothing to do with saying I have eaten at the French Laundry, because I had never heard of it until Michelin started rating in the US. Oh yeah, and to actually see a convention might be fun and it is a total write off and its a nice drive down the coast.

See, thing is though, I would've gone to the Carlton in 1928, 'cos it was Escoffier's menu, design, and receipts. Kinda the same thing. Keller may not be in the deeps of the kitchen anymore, but it's still his baby. Though I'd just as soon go to Bouchon, for that matter - less high-falutin', same executive chef.

I'd be the same about the opportunity to go to El Bulli, though, truth be told.

If anything from food to service to cleanliness slips, then these restaurants will lose a star. It matters not who is frying the eggs. But the experience is amazing and guaranteed. Many restaurants that I consider fabulous would ever only rate maybe one star. A two star experience is nearly perfect because the chef is trying for his third and can be great value. But when they get that third star, it becomes another world. It is a four to five hour night out and will seriously impact your platinum card. But worth every penny. Nothing to do with snobbery, but restaurants that work this hard to get this recognition have gotten there for a reason. People will pay the cost for a reason and even at these huge prices, most of them don't turn much of a profit. The real money is in their bistros and other projects with the traffic developed from their flagship restaurants. So I would say it would be well worth it because a three star restaurant cannot rest on its laurels.

Right, I understand how Michelin rates restaraunts and I don't think I indicated snobbery anywhere. If I did, I apologise, as that was not my intent - simply explaining hy personal rationale.

I am saying for me, it's not about the Michelin rating, or the cache of eating at French Laundry - it's about the Keller background that is part and parcel of the Laundry experience for me, which would make Bouchon a wonderful time for me.

Yes it was a compliment, brainy and attractive. Without straying into "in my day it was 5 miles uphill both ways in the snow to see Skinny Puppy" stories, I'll just say my goth/mohawk-boy days ended sometime back in the mid 80s, hence the "perhaps in a future lifetime" comment with the wink thrown in for a lame flirtation effect.

Well, in that case, allow me to give you my very best corset-clad curtsey, and say that sadly, I am having my teenage rebellion much later than I should... And ask what's your favourite Skuppy?

Are you asking my favorite album? Sounds weak I know, but I like them all. Just depends on what kind of a mood I'm in. I do tend to like the older "rougher" releases better than the newer more polished ones. Now that I think about it, I may still have origional cassette versions of "Remission" and "Bites" around here somewhere. That whole period is a little fuzzy, but I've been told by witnesses that I had a good time.

You're still learning GonZo.

Here's another case where I can help you thru the learning curve.

GonZo buys and owns lots of cameras. He occasionally remembers to have them with him when they're needed. And on those occasions, he might even snap off a few pictures.

But dont expect to ever see those pictures. He'll never dump them off the camera. And if he does, he'll never get around to uploading them anywhere.

It's part of his gimmick.

Now, if you shame him hard enough to get him to actually upload them, then that sets in series a whole other set of often annoying events. But that's another lesson for another time.

And if and when he does upload the pics they'll be so huge you'll have to scroll your monitor four or five times to get from the top to the bottom.

6) Maybe the only adult event in San Fran where guys don't have to worry about what happens if they have to bend over to pick something up.

O HAI, this is a thread about CyberNet, and not about moi?!

... whoops. *laughs* (thank you, though, everyone for the flattery :">)

SO!

Who all is going? I've never been to San Francisco - do I really have to wear flowers in my hair? Where's kickass to eat (other than French Laundry, 'cos like I can be off-site that long? Not even as much as I would kill and/or die for the Kellergasm)?

Edumacate me!

There are wayyyyy too many kickass places to eat in San Francisco to even try to list them. What type of cuisines are your favorites?

I'll hit my brother up for some recommendations, he's lived in the Bay Area for almost 20 years. He moved into the city almost 10 years ago, while attending California Culinary Academy. He worked for a number of years after graduation as a pastry chef, but got tired of the hours. Plus he doesn't deal well with authority, and executive chefs tend to be a bit overbearing.

The cool thing about the location of the hotel is that it's next to Polk street... there are several blocks of restaurants. Connor and I went to an awesome seafood place (bit pricey) and a killer Thai place (very cheap) when we were there a few months back. Probably 2 dozen places within walking distance.

++ LAJ's comments about yummy goodness:

Pretty much the only things I don't much care for are German and Irish - there are a few fish-type creatures that don't much care for me (salmon and tuna, primarily) - but other than that, I am game for pretty much anything. I'm open to suggestions.

As for exec chefs: "a bit overbearing" you say. *laughs* That may be my favourite understatement ever.
