Ive just fired up a new box out at caronet. The special on one that I saw out there was $109.

The AVN Award Winning Mike South makes Caronet his new home.

I dont know the pricing plans but NatNet is a good choice as well as Mojohost and nakedhosting.

I have servers with all of these companies.

Hmmmm....

Prices seem to be continuing to Drop.....

Pay attention my current supplier that I am paying........

Very soon, I will be looking for a WHOLE lot more for my money.
Most specifically.....more in the streaming server genre'

(But I'm happy right now, as long as you keep fixing what's broke when it breaks.)

I might add, I do not currently have any major complaints, other than "I'z po'."

Well when you are ready please keep me in mind. Just for one we do the live streaming for Bubba the Love Sponge's radio show and our network does the heavy lifting for Playboy's VOD, not to mention AEBN's and NakedSwords traffic.

Mark, in appreciation for all your help...

TOMATO-BASIL SOUP

2 1/2 lbs. tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and cut up (about 6 c.) or 2 (16 oz.) cans tomatoes
1/4 c. lightly packed basil (fresh) leaves or 1 tbsp. dried, crushed basil
1 c. chicken broth or canned low salt chicken broth
1 tbsp. sugar
Dash to 1/4 tsp. salt
Dash ground red pepper
Dash ground black pepper
Dash bottled hot pepper sauce
Desired fresh herb (optional) for garnish

In blender or food processor container place about half of the tomatoes or undrained canned tomatoes and all of the basil. Cover and blend or process until smooth. Transfer pureed tomato mixture to a medium saucepan. Repeat blending or processing with remaining tomatoes.

Stir chicken broth, sugar, salt, red and black pepper, and hot pepper sauce into the tomato mixture. Bring to boiling, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Serve immediately or, transfer to a covered container and refrigerate.

To serve, ladle warm or chilled soup into small bowls. If desired, garnish each serving with a fresh herb.

Makes 6 (3/4 cup) serving.

Needless to say, I'm going with Caro.Net :)

Did you lose allot of Data? :(

Yes, the old one was M3. I don't have anything nice to say about them at all, and still remain a lady.

I lost all data, mysql databases, and all flatfile databases. 11 years worth of work down the drain. It seems the backups were not being done as they were supposed to be doing, and it looks like the server monitoring wasn't either, or they would have caught the problem with the backups not being done.

Supprt there is a joke, I'm still waiting for them to answer my emails (3 at this point) with questions concerning this. They have no phone support...I have to wonder if there is a live person working there at all.

Thank goodness I still have all my original pages, and scripts, but without all the data, I'm going to have pretty bare sites for awhile. This whole thing is going to cost me a lot of money, and time to get back up & going...not to mention all the traffic I will be losing in the mean time.

Sorry to rant, but if I don't rant, I'll cry.

Thank you sweetie, I'll love you forever ;) I'll probably be begging for sites & gallerie submits in one of the other forums later too

I was up until 2am, and back at it by 7am...it's going to be a very long weekend. I do have all my recipe, gardening, and metaphysical sites up & running on the new server..not much data yet, but I'm gonna pay my kids to help add in recipes.

I'm going to start now with the adult sites...that's where most of my scripts come in, so I will be in cgi hell for the rest of the day.

Firstly, I'm sorry you had a loss....

But I'm forced to ask the obvious question.....why didn't you have a local copy backed up?

At $100 for a 1/2 terabyte external drive, it would seem a no brainer?

(I've been guilty of not having a current copy in 2003 which cost me like this)

The guys at Caronet have been wonderful, Dave (the tech guy that has been working with me) is my new stud muffin :) He helped me today with a few problems I was having with my sql database import. That one was all my fault...lack of sleep, and food my brain freezes up. CGI I know better, it's just time consumming to upload, and install the 13 scripts I use to run everything :( What's going to take the longest is the banner rotation scripts...inputting all the adverts I use takes forever.

I do have one domain I won't be using if anyone is interested in doing any porn story sites. It's just sitting at directnic right now collecting dust.

Major blonde moment? I have them every once in awhile :(

I now have 3 different options for doing backups, and I can even mirror everything to my second drive if I want.

This will not happen agian!

I have asked Dave for far too much the way it is...I don't want him to get sick of me just yet ;)

I hate to admit this, but I have never done anything with blogs, or CMS. I do have 2 other domains undeveloped that I might play around with after everything is set up for biz on the ones that make me money now. I just don't know what I want to do with them yet. One was my old member site I closed down the end of 96 (lwforum) the other was the first domain I developed all by myself, then redeveloped, and redeveloped, and now sits empty (southerncharms-ent).

This is all going great, and I'm sure more help & traffic will follow very soon ;)

But I'm curious to know now?
This was 11 years of work, investment, time, customers, traffic, data? All build from scratch?
And this host you've used for so many years dropped the hat on all your hard work & structure websites?
And that's it???? All u can do is just "start from scratch" again?
Your offered no apologies or even explanation for your years of loss?

Is this common business practices for Internet Webmasters??? :scratchin
And are they allowed to continue to stick it in any deeper without any form of legal assistance? theres nothing you can do?

What happen to that dantheman fella?

Yes, not to mention the trust of the webmasters that have submitted their sites & galleries to me over the years...I'm sure I've lost quite a few of them now too.

I was with that hosting company for 4 or 5 years. I was a loyal customer, and not offered an appology, or explaination for anything...other than I had a fatal hard drive failure.

There is really nothing I can do now but "start from scratch" and hope for the best.
