Actor Heath Ledger Dead At 28

Sources: Death May Be Drug-Related; Pills Found Scattered In NYC

Residence Owned By Mary-Kate Olsen

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Heath Ledger, who was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in the critically-acclaimed movie "Brokeback Mountain," was found dead in a New York City apartment this afternoon owned by actress Mary-Kate Olsen, sources tell CBS 2.

The Australian-born actor was just 28.

He was pronounced dead at 3:26 p.m. in an apartment on 421 Broome Street in SoHo. Police say he was scheduled to have a massage in the apartment, and when the masseuse arrived, a housekeeper went to alert him, but instead found him in cardiac arrest and immediately called 911.

Sources tell CBS 2's Scott Weinberger the death may be drug-related, and that there were pills, possibly a very strong over-the-counter medication, scattered around the room.

Police do not suspect foul play.

An autopsy was scheduled by the medical examiner for Wednesday.

The guy was a really good actor and from what I've heard his role as The Joker in the new Batman film The Dark Knight was really going ot be a breakout role for him cause he did such a spectacular job. I really liked him in A Knight's Tale. Way underrated movie.

I've actually never seen any of his films but it's a shame. Only 28 and the world at his feet. Too bad.:(
