Cant imagine buying it with that price tag and not getting the content...

ooops what content?

That site was the original "tube" site - do a search on here and see how many people complained about their content being up on there.

I guess people have short memories.

What a wonderful industry we work in!!!

Sell a site and as a passing favour fuck the buyers. I don't see anyone buying it and putting this in the terms of the sale. Hope they can reclaim their money.

Damn guys what's with all the hatred spewing from here? When did I ever shit on any of your cornflakes?

Shady? How? We sold the sites, we found out the new owner wasn't planning on keeping them live, so we gave our fans a heads up? The new owner got pissed so we switched it back. Yeah, we're shady, all that shady loyalty to our fans. I tell ya.

Gonzo, I'm REALLY surprised to hear this shit spewing from you man. What have I EVER done to you? Addicts? WHAT? You mean that Marc Womack guy who has NEVER done blow? Yeah he's a regular crackhead.

And while we're continuing the history lesson, Dollars.com never had anything to do with handling people's money. As for where it is now? www.madisonavenue.com and it's doing quite nicely thanks. It's grown into a free, web-based, world-class ad rotation solution.

Seriously man, please hit me up directly, I REALLY want to talk to you and figure out how we went from a friendly relationship to you making posts like that.

Yeah, while you're searching see how many of them didn't leave the table happy? Anyone who's content made it up ACCIDENTALLY we turned it into a FREE ad spot for them. We NEVER posted anyone's content that was watermarked unless it was an advertisement.

Calling us a "tube" site is bullshit man and I take serious offense to that. We passed up on SO MUCH FUCKING money over the years because we WOULDN'T do what our competitors did. Because we DID know / care about folks in the biz and didn't go around stealing content. CJ would have sold for a SHIT ton more if we'd done that but we DIDN'T. Don't generalize and don't misrepresent the truth man. I BUSTED my ass since 1999 building that business to be a REPUTABLE business. Now that we've sold it folks seem to think it's fine and dandy to throw out pot-shots like what you just did. Well it's not. It's wrong. Just because we sold that business doesn't mean we're not damn proud of the work we did. Gonzo I'm incredibly disappointed to see someone of your caliber behaving this way.

Paul, same goes to you man. I've hung out with you and we got to know each other enough to where I knew you were a straight up guy. THANKS for taking the pot shot at me. Of course you know there COULD be a damn good reason we did what we did. Like, um, it's possible that the new owners were planning on turning the sites into something shady our fans wouldn't appreciate and we wanted to give them a heads up? Like we cared so much about our fans we were willing to risk getting in hot water for them?

Not saying that is the case of course, if I said that it could land me in hot water. I'm just saying there COULD have been a good explanation other than we want to fuck people over. YOU should have known that based on the time we spent hanging out and the business communications we've had over the years. But thx for jumping on the "yeah fuck those fucking fucks" bandwagon.

Do me a favor, remove marc@cjtraffic.com from your content mailing list. Not that I ever bought content but I used to take a look at every one I got just to see how things were going for a person I considered a friend.

Help me out here.....

Exactly WHAT was sold?
I remember a guy from Consumption Junction years ago selling traffic.
That was my total involvement or understanding.

I look at the consumption junction now and see a bunch of broken image links.
Am I missing something?

Where are the people that are valuing these things?
What is the product?
Is it still traffic?
Advertising?
Help me somebody!

Your right Mark. Comparing you to a tube is inaccurate. I was discussing this with several people last week and I realize that statement was wrong.

As for the other comment I stand by it as I only have a personal experience to draw from recalling Carly having a HELL of a time getting her content removed from that site.

Did she leave the table happy? I dont think it ever got removed Mark.
I can certainly ask her.

But since youve come by....you dont think its wrong or unethical to sell off the domains and then a week later [using your own website as a source] turn on the very same content to compete with the new owners?

Before you answer. I know who bought the collection of domains and it couldnt happen to a nicer person but the question still remains.

Do you consider it wrong or unethical?

They sold off a collection of domain names during the show in vegas for around a half a mill.

CJ was one of them.

First I've heard of it. She must not have hit me up directly. How did she ask for them the content to be removed? Yes, we've got handy instructions: at http://www.consumptionjunction.com/removal.php (linked to from every page of every site) but often people ignore that. If Carly asked for removal like the most common requests ("remove my shit" with NO indication of what site or what content) then there's not much I can do except point out she should have told us what to remove.

If on the other hand she did tell us what she wanted removed and properly emailed support, then my people dropped the ball which is my fault, please do ask her to at hit me up so I can at least apologize personally.

Tough one to answer because there's a lot more to this than I can comment on here. But based on just what's in your question, no that's dick and unethical. If that's all there was to it, I'd feel very ashamed of myself.

I'm sooo NOT into board drama, so I didn't post, but since Marc came around, here's my two cents.

I've had good dealings with Marc in the past, starting way back in "The Smut Drs" days in 2002 - 2004. I enjoyed listening to Marc on a panel last year at Internext and thought he had a lot of interesting things to say, and enjoyed hanging out at one of the parties.

I even had a new deal cooking between us this past Fall, but other guys on MY side dropped the ball and it never came to fruition.

I would at least give Marc the benefit of the doubt. I also wouldn't hesitate to do business with him in the future.

Fair enough answers to me.

Ill take you at your word on the domains as I never have had a reason to doubt your honesty. And I will tell you that knowing who bought those domains even though it is [at least on the surface] I cant say that I wouldnt have done the same thing.

But then I would have different motivation.
