Here's why every company that is still in business has avoided doing things like this....

Once you start doing things like that you have effectively exercised editorial control. You cant selectively be an editor. If you are going to edit you are now accepting responsibility for the content on your network.

If you block movies from being distributed by torrent for instance to make Paramount and Warner happy, then I can sue your ass for not extended that same control over people trying to rip of my members areas by posting them to things like rapidshare.

It's much safer to never look and only act when specifically requested to via legal means such as DMCA.
