Hey all, I had a major PC crash last week....actually the dang thing died, so I bought a new one. I was able to recover everything, and my new one is just about all loaded with everything I need except a graphics program. I still have the one I had been using, but it's a bit out of date (photoshop4.01).
I don't do any high end graphics, just mostly retouch pics, and title banners.
I was wondering if anyone could suggest any other program that would at least be comprable, if not better than the old one.
Thanks in advance
Paint Shop Pro (http://store.corel.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?partNumber=OL_PR12&srcid=&pculicenseid=&promocode=0&countryCode=US&storeId=10302&catalogId=10103&langId=-1&trkid=googlepsp&trkid=45738780&gclid=CPr8s661o48CFQiSHgod-g_JTQ) by JASC (now part of Corel) is what I use.
If I need anything that requires a more sophisticated graphics program I outsource it.

I actually do have that one too, I think version 7.02 or something like that.

I never really used it much, I knew photoshop better. Are there any add-on filters you can get for it? I had a lot for photoshop.

Paint Shop Pro is fine. If you have version 7 you should be all right.
If you need a new Photoshop program hit Ebay. You can find them for very reasonable prices from reputable sellers.

A vote for The Gimp :okthumb: As the man said, very capable once you learn how to use it properly.
...once you learn how to use it properly. That's the biggest reason I still use Paint Shop Pro after 10+ years. I know how to use it, and I'd have a learning curve to deal with switching to Photoshop or anything else.

Well, I decided to go ahead and install what I already have. Last night Paintshop pro got added, and I just finished installing Photoshop...still have all my cool nifty neat filters to add in though.
I just don't have the time, or energy to learn a new program right now...too many other things I need to do first.
Thank you all for your suggestions, and comments

Good point. Guess also that's why I never seriously looked at anything else than The Gimp. I know it after using it for a long time. I really don't have any spare time to learn properly any other graphic suites.
