It seems that spam is becoming an integral part of Oprano. Is this a good thing? Not being judgmental, just curious. Because if it is OK, then I will leave it alone. After all, it ain't my board.

It has become an integral part of every board. There is far less spam here than most boards I frequent.

....it ain't my board.Exactly! It's not your problem. Let the owner and moderators do their jobs.

Just an opinion Toby. Like every other board. It is not a problem for me. Why would you think it is?

Why? Because of the way you harp on it.
You should be habited to hearing cry baby rhetorical complain,
and you shouldn't find it "out of the ordinary" for him to harp about something in his life,
...if he's not slithering about some girl to complain and jack off to, then it's something being performed on the board. :hmm:
This characterization often appears with people having low self esteem that are lacking any physical contact in there lives. "His mommy never hugged him syndrome"
Besides I don't think he ever recuperated over his Sabby/Serge journey that impacted his solitude/boring life. :whistling

I'm tellin' ya.., I shoulda' been a shrink man :rokk: lol

I feel that I may have contributed to Rhetorical starting this thread.

Yes, "spamming" has become very, very common across the boards. When I posted last week, it was my first experience with such animosity toward a promo announcement. I think the way you came at me was a little off color, BUT, it did help me realize that I should have been spending a little more time here previously to check out the dynamic of the board, the different personalities & most importantly, the board owners policies and opinions toward non sponsor announcements.
So, in a way, it was a good thing... you attacking me the way you did. AND it actually helped me to get to know some of the folks over here a bit!

My glass tends to be half full though, so what do I know? ;)

As far as whether it is good or bad, I will agree with others and say that should be left up to the moderators.

Now lets see if you stick around. The true test of attrition. The others have already split now that the convention is over.

as far as spam goes, I do it because of that big hawking banner at the top (in rotation cuz Gonz fixed the script dang it LOL). So it's my right. I also 'spam' for Oprano every chance I get, its the whole dual scratching backs thingy.

I don't think there is anything wrong with on point spam....
That is, if it is germain to the discussion.
Or, in the case of "Hi here I am," one would expect to see a spam the first visit. It's Ok if the person then stays and contributes.
Sort of a modern day exchanxe of business cards at the first meeting.

Ultimately though, it's Gonzo's playground. What he says, goes.
(Just make sure you get your donuts FIRST, before he disappears with the donuts and the chicks. I'm STILL waiting for the promised free donuts.)

Let's see now, I can either pay for a banner in rotation at the top of the page that no one will ever look at or I can pay some kid $10 an hour to act like he knows something, put my advertising in his sig and send him out spamming my shit where I know people will see it.... hmmmm....

Banner @ $2,500 x 5 boards = $12,500 per month with poor ROI
Spamming rep @ $10/hr = $1,600 with good ROI

Garsh, I was never good at math, can someone help me out here and tell me which one is more cost effective?

Hey, I just thought of something. I bet if I hire a cute chick everyone will be too busy asking to see her tits to notice she's spamming and if they do notice they won't go too hard on her cause everyone knows you're not supposed to hit a girl.

Are you gonna turn her out then? 'cause, you know, it's hard to get good help.

I'll have to disagree to a point. The boards we advertise on certainly doesn't send us thousands of new WMs a month or anything, but I have already seen a BIG positive result from the branding aspect of it. thats why we have expanded the # of boards we advert on :)

I agree that branding is important, but I was generalizing to make a point and talking about the direct immediate return of banners vs. spam.

Brooooooooooooooooos!!!!!!!

Buy my shit homies because I am too cool!!!!
I have pics with me in homoerotic poses with bro's to prove it!!!!!!!!!!

Hit me uppppppppppp!!

I am stoned on pharmas !!!!!!!!!! You want to be cool like me !!!!!!!!!

The above "mySpace" highschool clique type of posting is what irritates me to no end.
That is the last type of person I want to do business with.
btw I see this type of posts on other boards, not on Oprano - thank god.

I don't mind the informative type spam as long as it doesn't become habitual on the spammer's part.
If they are going to constantly make spammy posts then they should buy an ad spot from the board.

ps. If you don't honor my show rider I will piss all over you on the boards like a spurned
little bitch exposing embarrassing inside info that you shared with me until I get my way.

Just kidding about the ps part ;)
