Taking a shot at a little design

Melissa posted over at the zoo that she needed a new header for her site http://www.melissamidwest.com/main.html (current header)

So, I decided to give it a try. She sent links to 15 different pics to work from and wanted it to be the same size as her current header.

Here is what I came up with...

I think it's better than what she's got, but a bit too much of a thrown together collage look without a lot of thought to photo placement or integration. The big butt in the sky seems thrown in and not really logical as does the lying in the grass but which is really floating in the trees pic.

I'm also not sure that just because he name is Melissa Midwest that the farmgirl look is appropriate even if that's what she asked for. It looks more southern redneck to me.

Then I decided I didn't like the text and started playing with the other images in there. Love the big butt ffrom the sky comment...lolololol

She didn't ask for the farmgirl look. That was just one of the pics of about 15 she passed out. She pretty much said do what you want. I think the only rule she gave me was to have it be the same size as her current header.


This one started as a header, ended up being a postcard..lolol.

But ya, her laying in the field at the top right looks to much, the one without that looks much better :)

The first one obviously has a more realistic look to it except for the white outline which you eventually eliminated, but the photo in the middle where it looks like she might be leaning on the truck doesn't work with that particular truck picture because the perspective is wrong and the truck is too small and looks too far away to be leaning on. If you have another pic of the truck or can crop tighter on the girls to make it appear to move forward, it might work. Oh, and you need to removed the background still showing through in the middle pic in the triangle created between her body and her left arm.

Ok, brought the truck in bigger (only other pic from the truck has her and the friend standing in back of it so wouldn't work). That threw my balance off (if it was ever there...lolol) so took the anaimation back a little and did some grass in front to try to give it a bit more depth.

Not really working for me though :(

lolol...If I take that out (and don't replace something on that side) then I need to take out the animation for balance sakes and then we have the original pic more or less.... Very nice, but not really creative from my side :) (Not a bad idea to just go with the pic and a text logo..I'd sign up :)))

For some reason this one hadn't loaded when I said I liked the last one. I think this one is pretty good but agree with Rcourt about the spread eagle shot.

I don't think she has picked any yet, at least has not said she has but it's been a few days since the original thread and a couple of days since I heard back from her, but I imagine she is busy busy. If nothing else it was a good exercise in keeping/bringing my PS skills to date.
