Contacted a sponsor and requested access into members area to seek unique content for sites. "Wow, that was real easy" Anyway I caught that the sponsor had banners and links to other sponsors gallerie sites. "I was like WTF? "
Never attempting to hide anything, I mean Sponsor made it clear where you was going to by clicking. But I thought this is messed up, why does a sponsor feel the need to promote another sponsor?

1) They just can't provide enough content for customer?
or
2) Well, eventually they'll eliminate the middleman "webmaster"
or
3) Screw 'em all !!! I sell any shit I can get a hold of !!!

I just don't think this is right. Sponsor should leave this for the webmaster promoters to do.

PPS or Revshare?

On a pay per signup model, to pay the affiliate more than the sponsor often makes off the signup, they have to work the cross sales and upsales pretty hard.

it is called an UPSELL, and it is big bucks and pretty standard with any paysite

and I wish they would eliminate the middleman "webmaster", affiliates are usually a pain in the ass these days anyway

Actually, I am finding them pretty ok. No complaints. Well one, maybe, most can't sell worth a shit. The ones that can stand out. I am new to all of this, but have made money since the get go.Even after bandwidth, software, and manhour costs. I am actually impressed. But three or four affs make 95 per cent of the dough.
What also is interesting is how many hang around for a couple of sales. I will have to rethink my bandwith to sign up ratio and clean house. But since it has only been a couple of months, I am very forgiving. Its like any other business, you have to look after your good employees and fire the non performers I guess.

But three or four affs make 95 per cent of the dough. That's not a big surprise, especially with CCBill programs. You won't find many affiliates these days putting all their efforts into pushing just a few sites. Too many have been burned by sites that were making big money for them, then suddenly the site closes for whatever reason & they lose the majority of their income.

I promote dozens of different sites/programs. Last year my number one revenue sponsor was 17.4% of my total affiliate income. If that program closed suddenly it would hurt, but I wouldn't be scrambling to figure out how to pay next months car payment.

The 80/20 rule applies to affiliates.

Actually, more like 90/10 these days if not 95/5.

I have a HUGE upsell issue lately, nothing seems to work...aebn does all right, but nothing great, enough to keep it up though...and better than everything else

AEBN is a retirement plan.

I can turn off every site I own and never send them another click and still get paid for the life of the customer. Its a long haul investment like a mutal fund. In the end you will make far more than any PPS program.

But please dont send them anymore traffic or new surfers. That leaves more for me to market to and get signed up under my account.

So here we stand, outside in the parking lot, trying to get customers to buy these Chevy's that belong to you, we invest time, money, effort and work attempting to convince them to enter the shop, cause Chevy is the best. (according to the sponsor)
While ya'll stand inside the shop waiting with a few Toyota's hiding up your sleeves, Of which the sales guy outside won't see a dime from this "UPSALE" that sponsor is making inside. even after working to convince them to go inside cause Chevy is better?

Thats messed up

Yes, I did :) But I think I'm gonna start switching alot of sponsors from REV to PPS.Before you switch from revshare, check your stats for each änd compute your average $$$ per initial signup (total $$$ earned, including rebills, divided by number of initial signups*). You may find that many of them are higher than the PPS payout.

*For the numbers to be reliable you need about 6 months or more of sales data. Also, for more accurate numbers only include rebill $$$ for the most recent month. Do not count the initial sales or $$$ as those sales have not yet had a chance to rebill. Likewise, for the first month in your data sample do not include rebill $$$.

Thank you for posting that Toby. This is solid advice.

Ive only used PPS on a site taht I thought had a great tour but would be weak on retention.

Regardless of what many will tell you if the site is solid PPS is a sucker bet.

retention: the abnormal holding in the body of waste that is normally excreted

I like this word, but I don't see this in my movie sponsors, maybe its the form of promoting I do?
or maybe it's just the fear of the "rebilling" that scares away customers?
I've tried a few methods, The 3 day $1 buck deal and a few more, but no bites.
To when sign ups for cam sponsors is different. And I believe this is probably because with cam sponsors theres no forced rebill, its goes more along the line of, "when I get my paycheck this week I'll buy a cam show"
This leaves the option to the customer, and they don't feel as if they're being forced to buy more porn when they're not in the mood.
