McCain wants child porn rules for Oprano [Archive]

Social networking sites and message boards face the same regulatory burden as internet service providers (ISPs) in a new bill proposed by ex-US presidential candidate John McCain. McCain wants sites to report all child pornography to authorities.

Currently only ISPs have a duty to report suspected child pornography-related activity to the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. McCain's bill, though, extends that duty to social networking sites, and to all sites that carry message boards.

I haven't read the bill but on it's face it doesn't seem bad at all. As with any political bill though the devil is in the details.

exactly and thats the point our gov't doesn't get....they love to simply sling buzz-words that get attention to their own agendas. Hmmmm, lets add the words "for the children" and the masses of drones and sheep here in the US will buy in!

Pretty soon everyone will be reporting on everyone. Don't like your neighbour? Report him. Don't like your competition? Report them. This is turning into a witch hunt. Its like the freeking fifties and McCarthy. Ya gotta watch what you say because someone might be listening, reading, or might report you. WTF happened? This is getting nuts.

It's scary and it really pisses me off to think how overly sensitive people are today....
