Remember the old days when all ya did with a phone was talk on it?

What do you use your cellphone for in addition to standard voice related features?

I'm a bit of a feature hound myself....but it's mostly still communications. I use a blackberry for keeping up with email and surfing when not near a computer. The phone itself sees a ton of SMS and MMS (picture/video) messages, but that's about it.

Anyone doing stuff like sucking their phone battery dry using it for MP3? Or does anyone actually watch video or TV on their phones?

I know a lot of folks keep saying mobile video is "the next big thing", but so far I do not know of anyone who actually routinely watches video on their telephone.

My new on is on that pocket PC platform.
I use SMS and web mostly but I intend to use it as a tether to my lap top as a cellular modem.

Alarm clock and games. I use my laptop for computer stuff. If I can't take my laptop with me, there's no reason for me to use the internet.

I'm at home almost all the time. Really no need for a cell. Got one of those pay as you go types and let the minutes expire cause I never used it. LOL

One of the last holdouts.

For me, it's the opposite. I still have one honest to goodness copper landline left. And sometimes I really dont know why. I'll use the cell sitting right beside a hard line if for no other reason than all my numbers are in it.

In the UK you have to use sms or be socially shunned. All I want my phone to do is sms and get calls. My new one has a camera on it but I haven't really used it yet though I can see it being used at some point.

I check icq messages on it, as well as watch football scores if I'm away from a TV at game time.

I use my camera sometimes, but not that often.

Texting drives me batshit nuts after hearing the manchild's cell chirp 30,587 times a day. I finally did learn how to do it though.

I keep toying with the idea of getting rid of the house phone entirely. I have Vonage, and now the FCC is making them add on all those extra charges as well. I am reluctant to go with the cells and nothing else, though I can't say why.

I do a couple of thousand SMSs per month minimum. Some of those are automated notifications from my servers and applications, but I probably send 500 or more.

I'd love to have a typing test for SMS and see how quick I am. I can carry on 3 or so conversations via SMS via phone just as easy as I can on ICQ on a PC.
