View Full Version : "Lolita" in URLs and metatags?

I see a couple of some pretty big adult names accepting traffic from URLs with "lolita" in them and one of them owns the URLs.
What is the general thought on this? I guess I'm a prude because I consider it taboo.

Several examples and yes, someone we know well owns the URLs. Sadly one of the owners is sending the hits to his (or his partner's?) sites and also sending it to another large company. I guess it's more accepted than I thought :(

Hit Laundering with lolita stuff?
I know when we were working on PornMo we had to shut down all the trades from outside becuase off all of those fuckers using lotlita sites as salt licks to wash trades. They were pretty sophisticated how they did it too. I spent all weekend killing the it off before we just turned off non trusted trades.
Id guess thats what is happening here on some level.
That stuff is what gives us all a bad name.

I remember back when the term lolita was a perfectly acceptible term used a lot in the teen niche. I am sure a lot of people here remember that as well.
not as damned thing wrong with it provided;
1) all the models are of legal age with docs on file
2) the site sending you traffic does not also send traffic to illegal sites
3) you dont link back
I am sure those arent any kind of legal standards there, but pretty much common sence, but thw witch hunt is bullshit

I guess I just always thought even USING the word "lolita" to send surfers to teen sites or "taboo" type stories sites was just morally wrong and gave the feds a reason to point at us. I'm old fashioned it seems

It violates my "pigtail" rule.
If it smells like a pig/animal or wears pigtails ... I tend to avoid it.
Yes I have sent teen traffic but not anything that was lolitaish.
Just not wise -- at least in my book.
Washing traffic that way is pretty lame. A last gasp of despiration.

Personally I think the whole thing is ridiculous because the word lolita came from a book about a girl named Lolita, so really it's just a word that some people decided to start using instead of 'young girls'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lolita
Stanley Kubrick made an excellent film called Lolita based on the book. http://www.filmsite.org/loli.html
As far as I know there is no 'legal' issue with using the word lolita, it's only an advertising problem because sites like Google will not allow the use of the word. Now the really funny part when you think about it is this. Suppose you were a book seller or selling vintage videos and wanted to market the Kubrick film or Nabokov's book. How would you do that if the word 'lolita' is banned?
What will everyone do if some day we start using the word 'butterfly' to describe a young teen and Google bans that word?

From your link: The term lolita has come to be used to refer to an adolescent girl considered to be very seductive, especially one younger than the age of consent. In the marketing of pornography, it is used to refer to any attractive woman who has only recently reached, or is still younger than, the age of consent, or sometimes to refer to women who only appear to be younger than the age of consent.
Gray area, perhaps, but again - getting close to the line does nothing but bring the business more negative attention.

old fashioned? I doubt it. Where i think I differ from most on this subject is for me as long as there is no one under the age of 18 being exploited then it is just marketing... it may be marketting to the lowest common denominator, buts it's marketing and legal. my biggest concern really is what word is next? how much text will they or even ourselves censor away until our entire industry is one big bland conglomeration of hard plastic tits, over inflated colagen injected lips tattooed skanks?
Freedom to make sales within the legal boundaries as they exist right now... thats what I want. Kids are protected and pedophiles are punished.. they might be punished harshly enough but thats an entirely different discussion.

I know for a fact many programs will not accept a URL or metatag with "lolita" in it. Again, it's just like a "FUCK YOU" sign to the government to get that close to the edge of the envelope.

So what about the word "preteen"?
Nothing innocuous about that word, it accurately describes a 12 year old and should be banned. My point is that 'lolita' is a girls name. It is also a famous book and a famous movie. But now, thanks to the fact that Google and others decided to ban the word because of it's slang meaning, that completely innocent word has now become a bad word when linked to a porn site and that's all.

It is one of those "grey areas" of the business that moreso is a morality issue than a legal one, though it's possible that could someday change. I personally wouldn't use that url or want traffic from a site with it in the tags or url.
That said, I can see spaz and Hammer's points though they wouldn't sway me to change my position.

True, the real pedo porn sites sullied it, but the legitimate people of our industry jumped on it as soon as they saw the word could bring in more sales to their teen sites. If it didn't work, they wouldn't use it.

hell yes, that word used to be a goldmine, made people i know personally richer then i will ever be... the word has dropped out of favor certainly and no one i know actually will touch it... even me i am ashamed to say, but you will never hear me critisizing someone who uses it to promote legal content because while i may personally consider it unwise to do so (none of the Royal Cash sites uses that word) I think the first amendment protects that speech and it is their right to use it to market legal sites.

Whether it was those who surf for c*p that sullied it or the industry that sullied it doesn't matter.
If you use that type of term as a keyword, in text, in advertising, you are generally attempting to attract that type of clientele to your website.
So, even though you are not marketing c*p, you are in effect attempting to fool those who seek c*p into coming to your site thinking they will find c*p.
I stopped doing teen galleries when it became overwhelmingly apparent that a major advertising gimic on many of the teen sites was to make the content look as young as possible. In my mind, catering to that clientele, either with the real product or with a product that, albight it may be legal, appeals to the exact same mindset, are basically six of one, half a dozen of the other.
So, while it may be legal, I will not associate myself with either the terms or sites that use the terms or that advertising approach.

Here's my take on it - Mojo defended their actions on JBM. AFTER he had stopped sending the traffic to sex URLs. I told him via ICQ that if he thought he wasn't doing anything wrong, why did he change it? I also gave them my address so they could sue me for defamation :)
