View Full Version : Get traffic from review sites?

I do, and i think review sites is some of the most productive traffic I get. Let's face the facts that the hits they send are definitely pre-qualified and ready to spend.

Here is the problem though, certain billing solutions will not accept payments for types of content. The usual list of suspects of course, you have scat, CP you know, the ones no one likes. But then there is piss content. Back in the day everyone had to have a piss site somewhere in their network...

I dont know why, the niche doesnt appeal to me but i guess it made some bank. Now Visa or the billing company is not accepting piss sites...

my story, after a routine compliance check from one of our better billers they informed us that we had to remove the links to all the review sites we had listed on our warning pages... a link the review sites rightfully require in my opinion. So now I have contacted those trusted review sites and let them know we will still be linking back to them but from a different domain ext.

So one of your billers refuses to process for you because you have recip links to some review sites on your index page and some of those review sites may or may not have reviewed a pissing site?

Now that's fucked up. Almost as fucked up as Google's new rule. Some of my clients had their Adwords accounts turned off and when we inquired were told that Google Adwords won't link to a site with what they referred to as 'teen concepts'. So, we changed the links to the warning page. They said that wouldn't work either because there were links to 'teen concept' pages on the site and it didn't matter what was on the page they linked to. So, we had to change all references on the sites from 'teens' to 'coeds'.

thats about sums it up Hammer... but what you went through sounds a bit tougher to me. Actually this billing company has been very cordial and has helped me deal with a pretty monumental list of things that had to be changed...
it appears as though Visa is or won't be approving any sites in the future that have Urine on/in/about them... and since I had a recip that pointed to a review site that had reviewed a piss site in the past.... we were not compliant...... the problem came about because I just added the recips to warning pages and since those links were new... they were non compliant.

Pain in the ass for everyone involved including the billing company heh heh

I understand not linking to a site that directly promotes piss, but are they really going to check every site that a site links to to make sure they don't have any piss content?

here is what happened....
we had a site up for approval that Visa requested the docs on because some of the guys looked 'questionable'
we had the docs to Visa in less then an hour in the format they specified...
the site took much longer then normal to be approved after it had passed our billing companies compliance dept and after we sent the docs...
Since it was part of a network of sites and by joining this new site the member would get access to the other sites as bonuses our billing company decided to do a complaince check on those sites even though they had already been approved...
We had added recip buttons to several review sites recently, so the person from the compliance dept checked on those review sites.
the review sites had done reviews for piss sites in the past.. since Visa does not accept piss sites any longer, neither does our billing company (but if you had piss sites that were approved in the past I think they won't deny you billing now)
since our billing company does not accept piss content (it is now considered non-compliant or 'forbidden' I cannot link directly to anyone who links directly to a piss site on a domain registered within that companies US region.

we fixed it

the problem that I see it is for the actual review sites, esp ones that require a recip. If other programs get their sites checked for compliance and one of the bonus sites they offer is checked and happens to have a recip on it to a review site that.... you know the rest

I just wanted to bring it to everyone attention that this is going on.

I'm pretty clear on what happened, but what I don't understand is why they can dictate what sites you can link to if you don't own them or if you don't link to piss sites directly.

Hell, what if you had a link to Google as your exit link? Google has links to sites with piss, scat and everything else, including CP.

LOL i dont know about the google thing, we do have google as our exit link..

as for dictating to us who we link to... I was told in no uncertain terms by {name of other billing company omitted to avoid BS} that as a sponsor that I am responsible for all of the different ways an affiliate sends traffic to our sites as well as the affiliate's sites.

If an affiliate had a link that read 'click here to see the hottest grannies covered in cow dung and pissing on passed out hobos' and it linked to one of our attractive teen girls tours I am responsible for that... Yes I was a bit taken aback by it because it just seemed rediculous to me... however when I talked to the gentleman on the phone and he very clearly explained that they had no way of knowing if it was an affiliate or us generating our own traffic with a tracking code disguised as an affiliate ID.

it sucks ass

it sucks ass in a humangous way

but that is the way it is and the billing companies are just trying to keep their asses as covered as possible. So its up to us to comply. heh heh

Well that sucks, because that's almost exactly how I would have worded the link. But I guess it would be okay if I left out the pissing part, right?

Well, I know of a biller in the USA that processes for piss sites with no issues.

I haven't gotten any emails from any sponsor telling me they were removing the link to my review site, but I also don't require a link.

I know CCBill shut down accounts when galleries were listed on a site with Lo*i*a words, but the gallery had nothing to do with that and the gallery wasn't submitted, the site took it from another site.

Hi Pam I am pretty sure your one of the review sites I submitted our sites to, but since you didn't require a recip I wouolnd't have sent you the e mail. I don't know about every US Based biller, but the one I am speaking about most definitely required the removal of those recips for the reason specified.

I was told that this is coming down from VISA US and that it will start to take effect across the board. I can only speculate about the accurracy of that or the time frame

If that's true it's about as big a bombshell as 2257/4472.

I agree Hammer and I have to admit when it was told to me over the phone I was a bit stunned. I checked on a couple more occassions with everyone from my account rep to 3 different people in their compliance dept and was pretty surprised when the question was consistantly answered the same way 'no linking directly to a site that links directly to a piss site' i will try and have a rep from the company post here to answer questions, but i thought it was a big deal and surprised that it hadn't been mentioned on other boards.

Today it's piss, tomorrow it's anal, and who knows where it goes eventually. If Visa says they won't process for sites that link to sites that have content they don't like and they decide that piss isn't the only thing they don't like, this could get ugly.

The thing that's disturbing about your case is that you aren't even linking to a site that has piss content. You are linking to a review site that links to a site with piss content. How the hell far do they plan to follow links looking for stuff they don't like?

I still want to ask them about linking to Google because you can find links to anything you want on Google.

I know they stopped processing for blood sites but to not process for sites that merely link? That's going too far with things, IMHO.

Guess I need to pull any links from my paysites to my review site?

Sounds that way, but then again we don't know who this processor is and if it's not CCBill, I wouldn't really get too worried yet.
