Crap.....the food is great. Some of the best food I've ever had. If you like Italian food, there are some great Italian restaurants as well.
For the most part it is clean, easy to get around in if you speak English. If you golf, go up north to Chang Mai where it is cooler and greener. There are great destinations easily accessible, like Cambodia...Siem Repp which is Angkor Watt and Phnom Pen which is amazing. And a cheap flight to Xuan in China.
Down south in Koh Samui there is great weather, tons to do and see. Phuket for beaches and night life
And then there is Bangkok. If you want girls, Soi Cowboy and the old stand by Pat Pong street and you are also about an hour and a half from Pattaya beach..the world's biggest brothel.
It is a great country with friendly people and a great tourist infrastructure. Just make sure your visas are in order, they have zero tolerance for border shit and you don't want to be in a Thai jail.

Thanks Rhetorical!
I work for an advanced science lab that has a prime clinic in Thailand. Stem cell treatment stuff. I can get an extended visa so no prob there. I'm going to Thailand just to chill out for a while, save money, get work done.
I have several friends there but once they dig in it's rare to hear from them as they don't even want to come home anymore. It's so cheap to live there and the quality of food, services, medical, goods are so high it's like having year 2000 money in 1970 I'm told. I'm going to save money by just giving myself a monthly allowance of like $2k and the rest of the dough I generate through my sites and royalties from books,tv,movies shit I'll just dump in my corporate accounts.
I'm thinking of it as a 'banking vacation'. Save money and live in luxury while you're doing it.
What's cool is another pal whose got a couple houses paid for is going later this year. He's renting his cribs out for a year so he'll have a net positive cash flow of $5k minimum each month plus his salaries from his websites. He'll save a bundle for sure as long as he don't act stupid.
I heard about the food! People are praising it up and down. I can do for some golf though. Just going to finish up medical stuff check out new job facilities and exercise and work and chill.
With places like Thailand around a guy who works online can really get ahead.

Lemme explain further. I work out a deal with my lawyers and accountants to keep money away from me. I allow for a monthy budget based on certain ratios because I own patents etc. So I work out my own budget things like a game so I don't go haywire. I used to give so much money away for charity it was like the national debt. Don't ask it's complicated.

However you make it is your deal. But you can live well and enjoy a great standard of living on not a lot of outgoing. However, should you choose to pay more....well the sky is the limit. It is also a great hub for travel to Nepal, China, Hong Kong, Borneo, India, well you get the picture. A great choice. Do I sound over enthusiastic? Well I am. I was going to spend last winter in Thailand, but chose Argentina and Brazil which were great fun, but I missed Thailand the entire time....oh and Cambodia which is possibly the coolest place I have been in years.

I can understand your enthusiam.
I just need to be in a place where I won't get into any more trouble. I have books to write I have neglected for years and the money is huge so I have to settle down and work. This is what I do in the real world sometimes:

Not a big worry. Fucking up is not much of an issue considering so many Europeans retire there.

I know! It's like people are retiring there like crazy and I can understand why.
If you make $25k a year you can live very well there I'm gathering. For older folks who need medical attention you can get nurses and attendants to be there dang near 24/7. I think that plan is awesome! Thailand realizes that if they make their country economically friendly and foreigner comfortable they'll always make money hand over fist and gain security.
