It is a nice option for advertisers - though I think it could have moved a little faster, and maybe entertained me a little more.

The light in the window is a crack in the sky
A stairway to darkness in the blink of an eye

A levee of tears to learn she'll never be coming back

The man in the dark will bring another attack

Your momma told you that you're not supposed to talk to
strangers

Look in the mirror tell me do you think your life's in danger
here ya

No more tears

THERE IT IS!

We aim to please our advertisers and give them reason to want to advertise here. :okthumb:

There's a line between doing what makes the sponsors happy and pissing off the people that have to endure it too. Those shouting banners on GFY suck. Fortunately I don't go there much, but please don't run me off of here just to kiss an advertisers ass.

Must be. I haven't seen the ad yet either. I thought for a minute that maybe someone was just being sarcastic and poking fun at another board, but if you didn't see the ad either, then it must be an IE only ad.

Whatever it is, firefox takes care of it.

I use mozilla and/or opera...and there was not a "floating" ad, so much as the whole front page was an ad for swappernet.

The annoying part is that I'm already signed up for that, so it does me no good, just makes this already-slow laptop move even slower. (My PC with EVERYTHING on it just died...waiting for the company to come pick it up for the warranty work and stuck with a p2 laptop!!!)

someone please cookie that shit and set it not to appear every single time we open the forum! haha

Thats money you see floating by. Reach out and grab it by signing up.

Hammer

It's only money if someone see the ads and even though huge floating ads might impress the advertiser, if they don't generate results, it won't matter. If in the process of impressing your advertiser you piss off your members and they show up less often, then in the long run it was a bad idea.

I'm not saying anything about the ad because I've never seen it, but it does sound like it has annoyed some people.
