Do you ever wonder why porn is not free in hotel rooms but thousands upon thousands of you give porn away for free on the internet

and what do you think has an astronomically higher profit ratio, hotel room porn charged per view or your free, tgp, whatever sites?

Which do you think is the better business model?

Bad analogy. No one owns the internet, therefore you cant just decree no more free porn. If your business model is dependent upon no competition from free porn it's doomed.

Try TV, slightly better analogy. There's some pretty good stuff on free TV these days. Does HBO bitch about FX giving away The Shield?

Vick, you're a nice guy and all.. but you have been bitching for years about a business model that obviously works and one that most in this business capitalize on. the issue of "Free porn" is something that is and always has been grossly overstated. TGP's have found a point of equilibrium determined by a free market between annoying the hell out of people by forcing them to click through shitty galleries, mostly blind links etc until they finally know what they want and decide to go somewhere to get it without all the bullshit.

"free porn" doesn't stop new companies from blowing up all the time.

you can't put the genie back in the bottle. there is no point in even complaining about it. either you figure out how to profit from it... or you fail. all business evolves and all business people are constantly forced to adapt. 1997 isn't coming back. its gone. instead of investing energy in lamenting what is and what will never change, why not spend that time figuring out how to make 2007 the best year ever?

i'm not defending pornotube.com, gonzo, ken, aebn or jesus christ... i could care less if it lives or dies. management and the market will make that determination and i am sure that neither the adult biz or aebn will suffer if it did. but complaining won't stop the obvious... that free porn will always be found somewhere and as long as it brings traffic, someone (or many) will always use it to build traffic.

Answer: NO... because porn is not the reason people find and stay in hotel rooms. if free porn was the primary factor bringing people to hotel rooms, as it is in adult with bringing people to paysites.. then it would be 100% free. as more and more porn was used to advertise hotels, failing hotel owners would be bitching about and blaming the volume of free porn and the fact that they can't easily find visitors anymore... instead of busying themselves with building a great hotel, with great service, great location, great rooms, great food, great value etc etc etc.

as it is, porn is just one small extra out of many that people occasionally pay for, apart from the room which represents the bulk of the cost if not the sole cost of the stay.

what do i win?

Is FX free or do you have to have basic cable for it?

Vick, you're a nice guy and all...

I'm not a nice guy but thanks, I feel warm and fuzzy - in a purely manly way. JR you're a wise, funny Nice guy - I mean that in a manly way of course, but if I didn't there's nothing wrong wth that

not much on TV is free

You pay for cable subscription or PBS belts you in the head with donation drives or you get commercialized to death

Which give me an idea

Hmmmmmm

I tossed this out for fun and maybe I'll be get something back

The Shield is not free because it's on cable and you pay for cable. A better anaology would be a program like American Idol which is on network television, however, that's not a very good anology either since the advertisers pay for it. Nothing on TV is free.

As for porn in hotel rooms, as has been said, it's not the hook that was used to get you there and is simply provided as an option if you wish to pay for it. If it was acceptable to promote porn on mainstream sites, we could achieve the same thing.

The internet isn't free either, you have to buy a subscription from someone to get connected.

We can go back and forth with analogies all day long. There'll still be free porn on the internet.

Would I like it if there wasn't? Hell yes. Do I wish conversions were the way they were in 1997 when the surfers were all newbies and no one could afford to do something like a TGP due to the cost of pipe? Again, hell yes.

None of that will change reality and put it back the way it was. You can campaign as much as you want, free porn is going to be there.

I've long since found it's better to divert my energy into things I can control than waste my time sweating that which I cant.

I'm switching my focus more and more to my mainstream sites. Not much free stuff to deal with there.
