i always thought it was a little odd. my little pee pee is too shy to do his thing when strangers are watching. but peeing on the street in amsterdam is still not as weird as being in a bathroom in a nice place in bangkok and having the bathroom attendant sneak up behind you and start massaging your neck and shoulders while you are trying to piss... then expect a tip for it as if he did you a favor.
