A WEALTHY pornographic website master tortured two burglars and then dumped them at a police beat office, a court was told today.

Scott Gregory Phillips, 31, pleaded guilty in the District Court in Brisbane to one count each of torture and robbery of Daryl Jay Irwin, and causing grievous bodily harm to, and entering the dwelling of, Daniel George Atkinson, all on January 21, 2002.
At the time of his arrest Phillips had a million-dollar company, Internet Billing Services, and operated a porn site, pinkbits.com.

When Phillips was bailed on a surety of $20,000 in 2002, the man who put up the money was Gregory Shiraz Lasrado, himself a wealthy porn king at the time, but now facing a heroin possession charge.

Prosecutor Todd Fuller told Phillips' sentencing hearing today that Irwin and Atkinson had broken into Phillips' Mt Nebo home in late December 2001, and stolen various items including cheque books.

Mr Fuller said Irwin was a friend of a former business associate of Phillips and had committed the burglary to steal property which may or may not have belonged to his friend.

Phillips tracked Irwin down and armed with a knife, abducted him from his workplace at a Coles supermarket in Sunnybank on Brisbane's southside.
Phillips then took him to his Mt Nebo home, tied him to a chair, with tape, rope and a belt.

"He then placed a plastic shopping bag over his head and held his nose to stop him breathing," Mr Fuller said.

Phillips also bashed Irwin around the head and knees with a bat and punched and threatened him during an interrogation where he forced him to give details about his family.

Phillips then drove Irwin to his office at Milton and forced him to lure Atkinson there on the phone.

He attacked Atkinson with bolt cutters and repeatedly kicked and punched him forcing him to sign over his motorcycle.

Phillips ransacked Atkinson's home, taking items to offset his losses and took the pair to a Cash Converters store to try and retrieve some of his pawned stolen goods.

He then dumped them at a police beat at Sunnybank, giving his details with an officer before leaving.

The sentencing hearing before Judge Warren Howell was adjourned to resume on April 28 and Phillips, who did not apply for bail, was remanded in custody.

You missed the article about 30 mins earlier saying that Greg was in court today too. A truly great day for the Australian porn industry. :)

Everyone in Brisbane is glad Scotts legal problems are amusing to you.

Timon you misunderstood. I don't find anything amusing about Scott's problems at all. Greg on the other hand...

I consider Scott a friend and sincerely hope things work out well for him.

Talk about a long fall down ;)

Honestly, I swear here in the hills Scott would have been given a medal for what he did.

I don't see where there has been a "fall down" as HP says...

He is wealthier than anyone on this board.
He parlayed his web business into , from what I hear , some nice "real world" businesses.
So ,He is gonna do a short jail sentence for something he believed was right.

Good on him.

No one here ( myself included) would have the balls to do what he did hands on.

He could have run to a non-extradition country but , from what I understand , he loves his home and has taken the "do some time" option to come out free as a bird.

It is better to live one day as a tiger than 1000 years as a mouse.

:)

Scott has stayed at my house , is a perfect gentlemen ,smarter than nearly everyone I've met in this business, my kids adored him , and if he is ever in Western Canada my guest suite awaits.Whether it is this weekend or 5 years from now.

Just a guess here, but I think that Peaches thought that Scott was working at the grocery store, or the fall down comment was aimed at the other person who was working at the store.

Uh, I was talking about the guy who was working in a grocery store ;) I also stated that I thought what Scott did was right.

And not for nothing, sitting in jail is probably NOT where Scott wants to be right now.

It's a long ways down...

Quantify this.

It's a long ways down for Scott to look at the poor people from the mountain he owns and lives on?

Or is it...

It's a long ways down when he looks down at his nose at the poor people still in Adult trying to get a piece of the ever smaller pie, that he got out of rich?

Or is it...

Bleh, doesn't matter anyway.

I'm back to lurking and making fun of people in icq.

just a guess...

I think he has "volentered" to be remanded in custody in order to build up time served.

No doubt he would rather be out , but I think he has chosen to do his jail time , as soon as possible and get it over with.

Note that he has plead guilty and thet the charges include no real majors.

This is just a guess after reading the article.

Smart move.

true, not to mention his wisdom he shared and Scott put C in the word COOL.
He was the witness at my wedding and I won't be surprised to see his smile 12 months down the road in Florida.

They're both in the news at once - they're using scott's story to get more run out of greg's story ... greg's been in a bit the last few weeks since he got busted with heroine.

Yes it is a long way down and he deserves to be there.

Scott on the other hand ... I hope the time passes quickly & he's out as soon as possible. He knew what he was doing was against the law when he did it, lets not kid ourselves with this 'he was standing up for what he believes in' shit. He got ripped off and he fucked the guy up the way we all wish we could when we are wronged & could afford the best lawyers to defend our actions.

Ya just can't go around kidnapping people and teasing them with boltcutters, no matter how much fun it is!!

But, you can tell the true character of a person by how they deal with the low points, and Scott has always sucked it up and got on with it and been there for his friends - more than they deserved.

That's the person I know and respect. The rest is just a bunch of misinformation and gossip strung together by some dumbass journalist who doesn't know dick about the situation or the parties involved.

Its as simple as this. Greg is a common criminal who has been reduced to a junkie and deserves his pain. Scott is a man you'd be honored to call a friend.

Another article, this time in our daily paper.

It's even more sensationalist in some respects...tho some of the things they say which I suspect they assume the general public will be horrified by, will possibly elicit the opposite reaction...that of 'good on him for sticking it up em'. As CJ says, many many people would like to do what Scott has done, but most realise the consequences can almost never be good, and do not have the wherewithal to even attempt to legally defend their actions.

Esa, it does mention the boltcutters...
