Quotes from the Nancy Grace Show last night..

"CLARK GOLDBAND, NANCY GRACE INTERNET REPORTER: ...... I just want to say something, Nancy, we heard about a moment ago, the size of this global porn industry, $57 billion. When we say $57 billion, we don`t know what that is, $57 billion. Think of it as this. If you take Toys `R Us and Mars company -- they make Snickers and M&Ms and Milky Way -- add them together, it`s half that amount of on-line porn. ABC, NBC, CBS combined, $6 billion. That`s one tenth of the on-line porn industry. And lastly, you take the gross domestic product of Jamaica, Bermuda, Aruba, Jordan and Bahrain, that`s a little short of the GDP of the porn business.

GRACE: $57 billion, the porn business is making off kids like this one, then 13 years old. And you know what? To Pat Lalama. It didn`t end on line. What happened when he hooked up with some of these child predators?"

$57 billion, is this only the online part of the industry or everything together?

they are probably doing the porn industry as a whole....videos, web, magazines, etc...

I would imagine they get their #'s from public record and estimate from there while taking into account the amount of porn companies that don't have public records...I woudl imagine...but it is never going to be a completely accurate #, shit, I heard last year that it was half that amount

Some numbers can be verified but most stuff is just guestimates.. there is a heck of alot of money moving around but everybody either plays up or plays down their value depending on what servers their purposes best that day.

I love the way they wrap PORN, as if it’s the entire industry right in with CRIME. Predators and pedophiles that would still be doing what they do if ALL porn left the internet. They fail to show you statistics and numbers on how awareness has increased and more cases are filed. Not because there are more cases BUT that children are more likely today to report cases of abuse.

This part irks me:

“Parents across the country may have no idea what’s happening just a few feet away, literally right under their noses, until now.”

Until now what? Also, it’s a damn stupid parent today that isn’t monitoring their children on the internet. There are plenty of kid friendly sites that are heavily monitored so if you’re too busy or too lazy, at least make sure they are only going to these sites. Beyond that if a kid figures out how to hack into porn what are you going to do?

A 57 billion dollar industry? Well there’s a reason for that… people want porn but there will always be gray areas and people trying to pass along their moral standards.
