You know that no matter how I look at this even I can't figure out a good solution other then parents monitoring thier children while online. As they stated filtering software could pose far too many limitations.

I still think its going to get worse before it gets better. Unfortunately.

1) most people will agree that something needs to be done
2) as with most other areas of their lives, most people won't do shit to take any responsibility on themselves.

that leaves lawmakers and politicians to make those decisions for us.

I am surprised that browsers don't come with child protection features built in. I figured that would have happened by now..

It would not be a difficult task for a company like Microsoft that owns a search engine to identify sites that are very likely of an adult nature.

I think the public forgets that adult site operators don't want kids on our sites.

Microsoft would probably be sued for monopolistic business practices again!

JR I think there are plenty of people who would love a fair and reasonable solution, if that's possible.

Bishop I think there are plenty of scripts and such platforms out there ready to support this. I don't think I'm alone in wondering how much censorship will be used or how far they'll roll that ball.

JR I think there are plenty of people who would love a fair and reasonable solution, if that's possible.

really? who is interested in a fair and reasonable solution exactly? you? me? do you mean pornographers are interested... or the other 300,000,000 people who have no opinion on the matter other than the fact that pornographers are the lowest of the low are interested in a fair solution?

the christian right has a solution in mind and they are far more powerful than any band of pornographers/lobbiests ever will be. even the democrats are trying to appeal to them now. that turn was one of the final nails in the coffin for what everyone seems to think is their god given right to show naked teens eating dog turds while taking it in the ass from a mule in public libraries.

who defends porn? who will publically defend porn? who is going to publically defend porn when it is constantly attached to CP and child online safety?

drive 5 miles from your house and ask random people if they can tell you the difference between a good pornographer and a bad pornographer.

what is a "fair and reasonable solution" for a society that accepts no responsibility for anything? why do people take drugs like lipitor which can have devistating side effects instead of just changing their diets and exercising a little bit for the same effect with the added benefit of living a longer, happier life? its because people don't care, generally flow to the path of least resistence and modern history continues to prove that when people are given the option of not proactively solving a problem, they will wait until its solved for them and will almost always accept whatever solution is given to them.

Kids are bright enough to get past filters.

God forbid that parents should actually bother themselves with checking to see what their children are up to any more.

I can't decide if this country is turning into 1984 or Animal Farm.

*gasp* You expect parents to do their job? It's easier for them to get a kid a computer and let it babysit them.

They have no idea their young teens are in chat rooms and masturbating on camera for old perverts.

These kids all think they know it all and are SO wise and could easily figure out that the 15 year old boy they're talking to is really a 40 year old man.

They could EASILY come up with a reasonable solution that would do for the USA but notinternatinal sites. I've talked about this here before.
